OK, the mag will be hitting the store shelves on Feb 3! Lots of you already have it. From the posts here, it sounds like it was well received. But, we're curious to know, what is your favorite section, from both the Features and Departments? Tell us what you enjoyed reading the most. Did you learn something you didn't know, and what was it? How well do you like the interactivity?

I really enjoy the maps included. For me, they really get the big and little pictures in my mind, and I come to understand a battle much better. I also like the Art of War section, especially seeing DINFOS represented, from which I also graduated.

Of course, the entire mag is first-rate, thanks to intelligent writing, great photos, and a well-designed layout. I'm sure there's more greatness to follow! (And, no, I'm not paid to say this!)

Hi Jim,

I am still looking for it in stores. I would like to purchase it from my local hobby shop to support the shop and support the mag.

I will let you know when I see it, get it.

Have you guys contacted H.M.G.S.? Cold Wars is coming up soon (12 - 14 March 2004 in Lancaster, PA) which is a big historical gaming convention on the East Coast. They have a lot of good stuff and I think that talking to them could be beneficial to you both.

You'll find it sooner at your local Barnes & Noble (Borders too) than your Hobby Shop!

I know, but you have to support the local gameshops or they will close. Unless you do not think they will get it?

Re: Birmingham... all book chains should have copies of ACG in stock by Tuesday 2/3... they may even start to trickle in this weekend. Barnes and Noble and Borders have listed Armchair General chain-wide so you should have no trouble in Birnigham finding it.
Regarding hobby shops... I applaud your efforts to support your local shop!! Nice going. Unfortunately hobby stores are considered specialty distribution and can take a little longer to get up and running. best thing you can do is ask you hobby shop to carry it. they can ask their usual magazine supplier to ensure they get it.

Tiger - in Canada i think your best bet would also be book stores...we will be in a number of super markets and drug stores too... i think Super Drug is one.

Received my issue a week or 2 ago and thought it was very well put together. Took it to work and read it through my lunch hours.

Really liked the pictures of the recreationists! Since WWII had mostly B&W pictures it's interesting to see uniforms & vehicles in color. Granted they might not be 100% accurate, but very close.

Keep the issues coming!

Since my post, I've found that it's going to be on sale in WH Smith, a big UK chain. Cover price will shock US readers ($7) but it's comparable for specialist magazines in this country.

Got a Copy

Barnes and Nobel - Freehold NJ

It’s targeted at those who like to study military matters not only by reading but also by "participating" i.e wargames, interactive fiction, paintball etc.

You might have books by two contributors: John Antal (Armor Attacks) Robert Leonhard (Art of Maneuver). This adds credibility right from the get go. :thumb:

It's published every two months and has few ads right now. They offer a downloadable boardgame and have a pretty nice map of Utah beach that is with a feature "Walking the Battlefield". This I think is for people how travel to famous battlefields - kinda like a "staff ride".

The have a very favorable review of CMBB. This is their first issue so I guess that's a good one to start with.

There are other magazine out there like World War II and Military History - this new one has a different approach.

They are forgiven :halo: for asking if Patton was the best general
 (I guess to sell copies :nonono:)

:thumb: Without a doubt, my favorite is the CDG although, to be quite honest, I haven't seen anything I don't like, and I've nearly finished the issue. The Patton bio was brilliant. I enjoyed the interactive story as well. The staff have set a very high mark for themselves and I have no doubt they will reach it.
