Fire Lane

For sure I have playing it badly for years…

A squad with a MG fires only the MG and places a Fire Lane (places a SW first fire counter on top)

Afterwards it fires the Squad, but then it Cowers (You place a final fire on top of the squad and the SW, even if it wasnt firing)

What happens with the fire lane, as the MG is now under a Final Fire counter? I read MG and Cowering rules and dont get a clear answer…

Subsequent cowering doesn't affect the FL.
