The Norks do have teeth, glad to see the AT guns have been repurposed to shoot Marines. That rof 3, LL and a bit of hazardous movement can give easy crits.

Even the ATRs should be shooting 1-2s.

My one OBA is in a prime spot but would need an extra draw to go off, 4B2R... might have to go for it

He's not running on banks unless he's beyond 16 range so he remains concealed... 45LL at range starts at like a 4 to hit (red, LL but < 57).
I spent the first two turns bitching about how useless they were and than got some good results on this last turn.

Great so the guns are making him move slow without even firing.

I'm a great believer in not shooting everything just cos you can, even more so in a CG where the 6,6s mean more.

The Americans got farther than the stream scenario 1 (an axis victory) and was close to the VP areas. They concentrated on eliminating axis guns/mgs. I also did not fire a ton and kept concealment (fear of planes) as long as possible. This might have been an error as maybe I should have shot way more. But, once I did shoot, I was swarmed by planes. OBA with the "no extra card draw" was also a huge issue for the axis. With the limited setup areas, the axis are pretty stacked up (I bought as many FHs as possible). Looking from the axis side of the map, the Americans pushed on the left and the center. There was little action on the right (other than the allies moving into position) until scenario 2.

My opponent was not that worried about losing concealment as I had few long ranges assets. He just took the losses and kept pushing.

We got in another turn and a half last weekend.
We are at the beginning of turn 6.

Yellow Sector:
30246

Not much happened here, besides the berzerker killing the broken NK half squad that was fleeing and then getting cut down himself. The rest was just some hiding in the stream and slow moving up on the far right of the Yellow sector. I think I only lost the berzerker in this sector today.

Red Sector:

30247

More of the same here, with slow moving up, finally approaching the building cluster around T24. With the sector rules, his NK troops to the left of those buildings cant go over there, so hopefully these can be taken casualty free. At the top of this photo, you can see I've taken all but one of the Foxholes of the 105S outpost, his 50 cal crew died but he was lucky to get a halfsquad in to grab the dismantled 50 cal and rout out of my OBA to save it for another day (he did drop an ATR, but that's not too much help to me.) He does have his OBA zeroed in here, so I may be just grabbing the last foxhole and calling it a day over here. I think I lost a single fire team to a sniper here and that's it.

Green Sector:

30248

Here you can see the main battle again, not much occurred, he has a squad sneaking back up the board edge, mainly to DM my guys. He also ran his recently rallied crew back up to the AT gun and re-manned it. I sent a plane to take him out, but no luck. This is where all casualties seem to come from. I got him out of both the foxholes in front of the pillbox, but I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to take them.

The planes were a huge disappointment, much less effective than Steve thought they would be. They took out one of the mortars and broke several guys on the mass in the green sector, but that is all. Casualties for this turn and a half were light compared to previous turns. Mainly because I've only really continued pushing in the Red Sector and in the 105S outpost area. Two of my three OBA's keep drawing red, so the draw pile is not in great shape. The 60mm OBA keeps plugging along though. His OBA in the Yellow sector also drew red. His Red sector continues to dance around as an SR, now threatening the 105S outpost guys.

Not positive, but I think the CVP is somewhere around 23 to 21. With Americans on the short end of the stick.

We are off this week so Steve can go to Vegas and watch our Steelers hopefully beat up on the Raiders, so it will be two weeks before another update.

Well we got through the UN turn 7 on Sunday and unfortunately this CG is at an end. I horrifically failed my PMC. Casualties for the UN had reached nearly 50 CVP in the first scenario, with 10 scenarios to go and already at almost 25% of the CVP limit, it made no sense to continue.

Most posts so far have the Americans being favored in this because of the planes and firepower, but Steve's mortars, OBA and HMG's simply tore apart the Americans in the banks and trees in the Green Sector. I think I only had about 3 or 4 squads left from a company in that area and may lose more if we continued. The planes which were supposed to rule the field, did not. Between one failed task check on an 11 and horrible to hit rolls they did almost nothing, broke some mortar and 45LL crews, but didn't outright kill anybody except one crew.

I never ran on the banks or did anything particularly risky, but just slowly came forward towards the hills. Apparently I am missing something. That being said the last 4 or 5 play sessions, Steve's dice were as hot as I have ever seen them, he could've challenged for Grofaz in Cleveland with how he was rolling!!! Multiple phases where he averaged maybe 4 or 5. My averages over the same period was maybe 8 or 8.5. And we use the same precision dice!

So unfortunately this one will end prematurely. Way too many casualties in the 1st date of a scheduled 11 scenario date CG. We will probably take a break for awhile for the holidays before starting something, although we have no idea what CG to play next.

As to play, map is lovely, NK options are fairly limited. Once you lose your long range weapons you're screwed.
SOunds like Roger experienced the complete removal of his and gave up while I survived the planes (damaged 2 with SEAD) and even remanned a MTR I lost early in the end game.

So I think there is something there but might be hard to find that sweet spot, i.e. it can swing disastrously one direction or the other quickly and easily.

Yeah I'm also disappointed that it ended so quickly. Just seemed like a bad investment in time after so many casualties in the first scenario.

As Steve stated, the map is great and its a new puzzle getting across all those banks. Just apparently I'm not good at that type of a puzzle!!!
