One of the WOA scenarios. I think it was Point of No Return. He was a 10-3. If I remember correctly, if you lose Rommel you lose the scenario.

Gavin was featured in a couple of scenarios. Gavin Take and Gavin's Gamble.
Played that one back in the day. My sniper took out the 10-3. Im dont remember if was an automatic win for killing the 10-3, but it didnt matter, my brother just resigned on the spot.

I was looking for a thread listing historical leader conuters in ASL. Thsi was a pretty good one - but the pickings are pretty slim. I have the Hitler in B:RV but the Gavin's and Rommel's aren't really named as such - just simulated by generic 10-3. So Hitler and Chesty Puller are two of the only anmed actual leaders in the system. Pity.

But you can add Sgt. Pavlov of the 62nd Army to the lsit. He has his own counter in VoTG and I insist on using him where applicable.

Keep looking in the HASL products - that's where you'll find them (Pegasus Bridge and Op Watchtower both come to mind, likely ABTF, too).

I don't think it was an automatic loss, but losing a 10-3 can't help. I lost him to boxcars followed by a 6 for a NMC on the first turn of the game to a suicide overrun by one of the Aussie tanks that set up toward the front.

In the BRT HASL there are quite a few; Col Dave Shoup, LT Sandy Bonnyman, Lt Dean Hawkins and a couple of the IJA that i cant recall of the top of my head....

Same goes for VotG, many of the German & Soviet leaders were historical names, from division COs to regimental, battalion and company COs.

I love it when HASLs use the historical leader names, not only a nice touch but honors their memory (sort of).

I highly agree Tom. I got a real kick out of Sgt Pavlov - I don't know the abttle to teh deatil where I would recognize other battalion leaders beyond him - but I appreciate that tis in there if I want to dig.

You are correct. The only reference to Rommel is in the first sentence of the aftermath. There are no rules or VCs for this scen's 10-3 ldr.

U 30 Swatting at Tigers, however, has an SSR that if you get Gavin killed, every MMC must take an immediate NMC ( SSR4).
