I tried to post this op but apparently even objective science is unwelcome at Reddit:

Clearly Fanboyism has a mitigating factor when it comes to down voting people on Reddit, especially in the Star Citizen section; even the most innocuous statements are down voted. Interestingly, those who tend towards Fanboyism usually suffer from low self-esteem and respond to game or brand criticism in the same way people respond to personal failure. Here are very interesting studies which are included for those that are interested in the subject:

Reddit is toxic, just like parts of Facebook and Twitter. It is little more than the voice of the mob. Not surprised to see this.

Create a competing subreddit, you can moderate it how you like it.

That's what this forum is for -- open and honest discussion of games. And that's a damn rare thing these days.

Who would have thought the games scene would turn out like this. We create virtual worlds, at least in part, so we can have freedom to do the things we can't do in real life. Games are the ultimate escape, and yet the whole scene has become dominated by the same restrictions, intolerance, and corporate pressures as the real world.

You could probably write a book on that.

Couldn't agree more! This is the place to be!!! Besides, with Reddit's silly voting system the Fanbois would just take over sub-reddit and destroy open, honest dialogue.
