Mostly its the way that those who run Eve-uni arrogantly represent themselves and what they do on the forums, tbh.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've not noticed that. Of course, it's difficult to make any sense out of anything on the official EVE forums with the Goons spamming almost every thread.

Well if you steer clear of COAD the goons are a little bit more manageable. I'm a bit of a forum "whore" on the official forums. More so in the past than now, but I've noticed this reaction periodically... particularly from the Merc and the pirate community in the Crime and Punishment channel.

But obviously, I suppose I should have prefaced all this by admitting that this was a guess on my part.

We are evaluating the option of moving out of Korsiki to lower the number of wardecs but I'm not convinced so far this will be the only solution. More diplomacy with some heavier fortification needs to be there too, but I'm not aware of the trade off of these POS.

Nice fleet op yesterday. IDLE actually took a bait and were gate camped by our 30+ fleet. I used my crucifier with some extra tools and it actually helped. For once the damage in number was even at 8-8, but as usual we did more ISK damage : 857M !
"Your damn support fleet" was the complaint on Local.:D

Do you realy think we were not aware of you support fleet waiting, we where just looking for some action and decided to bring the fight at the gate as you wished :D
We would not bring the fight if we cared much about losing a ship, after all we are fighting about 4 times the numbers we have.

I always get a kick out of the corp or alliance that loses a fight saying, we didn't care about losing anyways. Kind of like when BOB use to say when losing a system, well we didn't really want that system anyways.

If you took the bait, or in your terms "decided to bring the fight at the gate as [they] wished", you already lost the initiative. It only gets worse from that point onwards. But don't take my word on it, read up on "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu, he figured it out a long long time ago.

Your fleet was apparently aware of and chose to ignore the consequences of the support fleet being close by... Excellent command decision (er, sarcasm if you missed it) and look where it got your fleet. If their fleet was 30+, I will call it 40 for a nice division so yours numbered 10. You lost 80% of your fleet, they lost 20%... (If their fleet was 32, that's 8 for you guys, so 100% and 25%). The ISK imbalance is probably just as bad.

I know EVE is a game and different folks have fun in different ways while playing, but was losing that many ships enjoyable in any way?

Nice to have you here, please stay, might be a good point of contact. You really have to explain me what this is all about. Are you willing to pay this much for some fights ? There must be more interesting fights around than a highly costly fight against noobs in highsec where you cannot bring the majority of your fleet.

It's nice to see we're finally getting some good EVE discussions around here. Hopefully, people will tell their friends and we can get some real EVE action going!

Yes, GS is mainly an ASL forum for me (where Peter and I fight about about combat tables :D) but I find it good to have a bit like a neutral and confined place, and without GS I would not play EVE or be in the uni.

Anyway, we had another bunch of raids yesterday and caught some lone pirates in losec, most of the Space P0lice. No IDLE ones, they must have been pretty "idle" since we had so many fleets roaming around.

I am unable to play the game but seeing people like the Uni, and reading sci-fi and the movies, what are player made fleets usually consisting of? I'm curious of to how most fleets are structured and what roles are players given or carry out?

It varies considerably : I've read from capital ship fleets colliding in the great wars, but Uni fleets are far more modest : mostly it is composed of like 5-10 BS/BC, 10 Cruisers and 20 Frigates and a scout or two. Each squad has some of those and within each squad you have different roles : BS/BC damage dealers, cruisers/frigs mainly tackling and ecm. When we encounter a couple of enemy BS the small ones scram and jam them and the BS/BC kill them.
But yesterday we went on a fast cruiser/frigate fleet alone, and we still managed to take out several small 2-3 BS fleets. I'm actually amazed corp let BS roam alone in losec, they should be properly escorted, a few drones alone clearly do not make the cut, they rather end up captured after their smoldering shipwreck gets salvaged :smoke:

We took the fight to their home system Ihakana. We brought several large and small fleets but with considerable higher % of BS this time and assaulted a Tower POS. Quite impressive, my first POS assault. I was amazed of the lack of response by IDLE. They did bring out a carrier but it got taken down by sheer numbers (73 involved...). Nice gesture from our Director of Operations to put the captured fighters back on the market so the owner could buy them back.

Carriers are tough, but a single carrier with no support is going to fold against 73 enemy ships, even if they are just cheap ships.

Be careful of motherships though. They pack a top potential of 25 fighters and are completely immune to all forms of electronic warfare. You can't jam or disrupt them, so taking them down has to be done with brute force. And they rarely travel alone and unsupported. If you run into a fleet of motherships, it's unlikely a fleet of 73 small ships will be able to bring down their tanks before they rip your fleet to shreds.

I did not see the fight but there were several IDLE BS in the system, just not enough...
I know they have a mothership but I have not seen it yet.

Things got a bit larger as RAZOR and Morsus Mihi joined in. We killed another 2 caps and took out the POS. I think by now they have bitten of a bit more than they can chew...

RAZOR and Morsus Mihi came in on your side? That's interesting.

I guarantee that if you take down their mothership you will have hurt them some. A regular carrier is easily replaceable (as long as it wasn't fitted with a bunch of really expensive faction mods), but no one takes losing a mothership lightly. And due to the expense of a mothership, they are almost always equipped with some nice toys.

When and if they bring it, it won't be alone.

No mothership yet, but amazingly we found IDLE players missioning during war and even took down a lone T2 command ship. Typically with a too expensive outfit...

Sigh. I really dislike anyone even tacitly associated with goonswarm of SA. Boo NC. :p
