I don't believe in precision dice, but in order to avoid pointless stress with those that do, I'm committed to getting them.

However, I can't find an EU-based distributor with white and/or non-casino (ie pointy cornered) dice.

Could anyone recommend a reliable, EU-based (ie: NOT United Kingdom) distributor that has ASL-compatible precision dice? (preferably 14mm and w/out silly symbols and stuff on them)

Thanks.

Sadly, bgshop.com is EU based. BattleSchool sells precision dice, but he is based in Canada. Those are my two sources.

I found this catalog from Lion Games offering ball-cornered and precision casino dice but no "white" option. I looked at Trojan games and did not see dice on offer. Sorry I could not be more helpful. -- jim

I hope that you don't give in when the first ASLers demand 'gendered' language for the game... 🥴

Of course, I can understand your point. But once you start to give in to nonsense, you can be sure that other nonsense will follow. People need to understand or learn that there is no imposing what they believe is good for them is also 'good' much less mandatory for others as long as these others do not infringe any rights of the former. For sure, there is no 'right' on the usage of precision dice...

Just my 2 cents.

Have one of the stress-inducers buy you a set.

I use precision dice for aesthetical reasons.
I don't believe that using them has any measurable effect on a game where you roll them some hundreds of times only.
I use other, non precision, dice too.
It is like playing chess with marble pieces or wooden ones.
I don't think that I have met a player who insists on using precision dice. I presume that such a person must have other OCD pathologies.

Are you looking for precision dice for your own use?🤔
He's fed up with some players insisting that he should use precision dice because they want it, because non-precision dice screw the whole game, could be shaved - all that absurd blah, blah. Rather than going through all that blah blah, he wants to give in to spare himself that, procuring precision dice albeit he does not deem them necessary.

At least that's how I understand it.

Wasn't sure if he was looking to resell them or use himself.

If an opponent insisted on me using precision dice I would just say to them in that case I will use yours.

Forking out $50 for a pair of dice is not something I would have done. That amount of cash easily buys a couple boxes of wine!😋😋😉

My backgammon precision dice cost me $7 each.
Lol well that's still three bottles of cheap wine!!😊

Do you use them for backgammon, just ASL or gaming in general? Used to play a lot of backgammon. Actiondebbie was quite good at it. I used backgammon dice in the " rolling in the box " days. Switched to smaller ones when we started using the Chute Five dice towers.

Backgammon grenade?? 🤔🙄🤣

A disputaious player who was being bolshie might insist that the dice from Beyond Valor be used as those are the ones mentioned in the ASLRB. 😉😉

Dude, I'm American. Right now, precision dice are the least of my "rights" problems!

Indeed.

"A.1 DICE: The rules often require use of a colored die to differentiate it from the other die in use. A set of four dice of different colors is included in ASL Module 1:BEYOND VALOR. A white die and one of the colored dice are rolled simultaneously and summed normally for most purposes, but occasionally the colored dr will take on added significance either by itself or in comparison to the white dr. Players may also find it beneficial to get in the habit of rolling three dice, and using the third colored die as an automatic "subsequent dr" for any situation requiring one (such as 5.132, 7.309, 9.74, 11.13, 11.501, 24.1). The term "dr" refers to die roll while the term "DR" in all CAPITAL letters refers to Dice Roll. The term Original DR/dr refers to one before the addition of modifiers; Final DR/dr refers to a DR/dr after the addition of all modifiers."

However, if you want to take the hairsplitting to extremes, you could argue that A.1 tells you that only the colored die must be of the ones included in BV, while the white die can be any one: A (i.e. any) white die / one of the (included) colored dice. :p

If anyone insists that I must use precision dice, this is the rule I am gonna quote telling him that he must use a colored die from BV. Bullshit in - bullshit out. Or so it is said... 🤪

That's exactly it Andre. We've been there, done that, had enough, there are other fights more worthwhile.

I don't want to use theirs. I want to use mine, those I've used for 15 years and won/lost 50:50. Just like I want to wear my shirt and sleep with my wife even if yours is more "precise".

Yeah. For example, if the dice tower must be set up to the left or to the right of the playing area... 🤣
