So, I have always played that guns in open ground lose HIP/? as soon as an enemy unit has los to it, but the chart suggests that I am wrong. Emplaced guns lose following ACDG, whether in concealment terrain or not. Seems surprising, but am I right that a gun in a totally open ground hex, with no hindrances between it and enemy stays HIP and loses ? as if in concealment terrain????

You are wrong. It comes out under concealment and loses concealment per the chart if in open ground. This is also specified in Chapter A 12.34.

It is the emplacement that gives the gun its special concealment that is lost based on the colored dr of the TH DR the gun makes. In OG, the HIP gun is put on board concealed when an enemy unit has LOS to it. Rule A12.34

Cool! I thought I must be but couldn't fine that rule. I have played it that way forever, but the rat chart misses that point.
Thanks Carl!
