I must be missing the joke. Doesn’t MMP now own the rights to ASL? If so, not selling it through their site creates market confusion, particularly for new players. If you search online for ASL, you’ll be directed to the MMP site, which has no mention of the new eASLRB. As a new player, why would you even think one existed if it’s not mentioned on the publisher’s own site?
Yes, MMP owns the rights to publish the rule book. Digital distribution is hard. Why wrap your own when you can use one that is already in place? MMP likely chose to use Wargamer's Vault because they already have the infrastructure and they don't need to build their own. WGV provide for easy distribution, they hold a record of the sale so you can download it again, they have a mechanism in place to notify buyers of updates to the PDF, etc. It was likely the path of least resistance. -- jim
