Hi all,

Next to desert theater of operations, which I haven't played since I don't have the counters or rules, the eastern front for some reason ranks as the theater that I've played the least, in favor of late war NWE and PTO. I'm sure this stands in stark contrast to most ASL players and I wanted to ask the Ost Front fanatics which scenarios they enjoy the most. I'd very much like to work more eastern front scenarios into my game time and would like to find some gripping options that really capture the character of the fighting.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Do you have Beyond Valor#3? There are some great Eastern Front scenarios in there.

Unfortunately, I have the first edition of BV- there are some classics in that one. Commando Schenke being a personal favorite.

I don't think you throw a rock at a pack and not hit an OST front scenario. There are a number of East Front specific packs out there. I'll give a selfish plug to BFP's Crucible of Steel for a focused look at the southern shoulder of the Battle of Kursk and contains a number of good scenarios. Also, Into The Rubble 2.

Commando Shenke - originally a Tactiques scenario published in 1991 - wasn't in BV1.
So you must have BV3.

Or a copy.

As for east front scenarios, there are 10's of thousands out there. But I'll assume you do not have any 3rd party stuff.
  1. RB Bread Factory#2
  2. Sawchos 79 (rivers to the rich pack MMP)
  3. Break out from Borisov (turning the tide MMP)
  4. Ap 1 The Ring
  5. AP 62 Shouting into the Storm
All very good to excellent scenarios .

Black Ravens Are flying FB 12
Tolstoy Woods BFP 102
The Red House RB 7
Ragnarok J 146
Village of the Damned AP 18
Lenin's Sons J 103
Red Star, Red Sun (best of all worlds you get ETO and DTO and PTO all in one scenario) ASL 65
Hill 621 ASL E

That's my "top 10" will play them again ETO scenarios.

All of the aforementioned plus:
  • #132 HILL 253.5 (an absolute classic) BV-3, or ASL T7 from The General issue 27-3 (can get it from VFTT site)
  • WCW7 EYE OF THE TIGER (perhaps one of the very best TPP releases ever), can get it off the Chicago ASL Open site as well as from Pittcavage's DESPERATION MORALE site as well (I believe).
  • Don't forget ol' #4 THE COMMISSAR'S HOUSE (always an oldie but a goldie)
  • #10 THE CITADEL is hard to beat also, AND always available.
  • SP202 FIREY FINALE (at least it was one of my ATFs)

These are my favorite Gunner Scott posts... How about another 3 from TPP packs?

Dispatches from the Bunker has a bunch of East Front scenarios in it, pretty much in every issue which usually comes out twice a year.

The Andy Hershey scenarios from Red Factories were originally in Dispatches. If interested e-mail me at:

aslbunker@aol.com

So far we have 47 pdf issues in print, been publishing since 1997. Your ASL Comrade, Vic.
