Looking for some thoughts on East Front. One of my goals was to limit the number of Stalingrad scens. However, several designs have been Playtested to final but not published yet. Also, with the new resources coming out, significant Stalingrad potential.

So, for the large East Front project, what are the objections to Stalingrad scens? Should we limit to a certain number or percentage. Or doesnt it matter, as long as they are good?????

Thanks,
Chas

Well, we do have plenty of Stalingrad scenarios but in the end, if they are good then bring them on. But do try to do some others too.

I would like to say if it's good bring it on but, I know I'm not going to pull a Stalingrad scenario in the end. I have played too many and I want something else to play.
Just my thoughts.

Stalingrad is the heart of the system, all the way back to Guards Counterattack. However, it's also now horribly overdone. Everybody has a bunch (like, bare minimum of fifty) of scenarios on it already. They'd be the last ones I'd play out of this product, so I would prefer a limit and a low one. I might play one at some distant point if it got a great rep, but based on the general quality level of BFP's stuff, I'm going to want to play your treatment of anything else first. That said, many players have bought two official and several unofficial HASLs on Stalingrad and there still remains anticipation of Red October, so I realize not everyone feels this way (though I know I'm far from alone, too).

As long as it was interesting and not another 12x 4-6-7 vs 14x 4-4-7, etc or 10x 6-2-8 vs 8x 4-6-7 or 9x 8-3-8 vs 16x 4-2-6 etc.

Mamev Kurgan?
The Grain Silo
July 1942 on the road to Stalingrad

Kharkov 1943, Kiev 1943 and some Cherkassy 1944 would be good to see.

Other than, maybe (as dlazov suggested) Mamev Kurgan, keep the Stalingrad quantity down. Between RB, VotG, future RO and the CH stuff, Stalingrad has been done to death. If there are a small number of what you consider outstanding and unusual Stalingrad, fair enough. Some of the fights on the outskirts or early part of the battle before things bogged down.

There is so much to cover. Even OtO barely scraped at Bagration. Debrecen, Mtsensk, Rostov 1941 the list is endless.

Are they straight on Russkies v. Jerrries? In Stalingrad or the environs? I'm game but I'd like to know more.

A good scenario is a good scenario, but it feels like we've kinda played out the possible variations on the theme?

What maps are they on? Accurate HASL maps (Mamev Kurgan mayhaps?) would go a long ways toward making more Stalingrad scenarios appealing.

Otherwise, it's just another city fight on generic urban terrain.

I guess I must be in the minority here, but after more than thirty years of playing SL/ASL, I'm still not tired of Stalingrad yet....

I don't think you're the minority, but it's become polarizing at this point, I don't think many are left who are indifferent.

And, make no mistake, I'll buy this and Redo(ctober), too and not ever regret it. :D

Just a few Stalingrad. Another Stalingrad HASL would be one thing ,but more geo-board scenarios on the topic are vanillia.

Bring it...the more the better. Regardless of how many you give us, a week after I get the East Front product, I'll be hungry for more!:laugh:
