Casey, good idea. I'm not sure if drop tanks were ever mounted on Luftwaffe aircraft though. I hope they were, and that I just haven't heard of it. I like the idea of using our air forces to as support for our ground troops, our light bombers and attack aircraft as day bombers on pinpoint targets, and our medium bombers and any night fighter variants as night bombers of logistics, command & control, and nexi of resistance. You're right we cannot bomb anyone into submission with our lighter faster bomber force, but we can make it a support arm of our army, or even an integral part of a quick response force.
Guys & Gals,
How do you like the concept of a quick response force QRF?
Paratroopers=infantry
Gliders (when we get them)=armor
Fighters=close support artillery
medium bombers=heavy artillery
We could base them in a centralized location, with airlift capacity they could be on any of our current borders in 24-48hrs. and ready for combat. We could really use such a force when-not if-Russia or France decides to take a potshot at us. This would allow all of our blitzforces to assemble to prosecute the war in a linear fashion, secure in knowing that the QRF can slow or stop an enemy advance long enough for heavier troops to be called to that front.
Thanks for the suggestion Casey, and keep 'em coming.
