This rule clearly states that the only SMOKE that can exist during deep snow is that from SMOKE entirely placed inside a building (3.8) or emanating from a blaze.

Is there a Q&A that puts an exception to this rule?

Can I place a SMOKE counter on a ploughed road hex?

I need this information by tomorrow night 29 Dec, 17:00 hrs local; I am playing J62 Lee’s charge. You guessed it, deep snow ploughed roads and SMOKE from my tanks. I am the American.

There is no Q & A that I could find.

As you say, the rule clearly states what you can do, and if Plowed Roads were an exception then it would say so under the Plowed Road rules.

Just seems odd you can't place smoke on a plowed road? I know it's a game and someone will surely point that out.

What is odd about not placing smoke on a plowed road or any other snow-embedded surface. Plowed does not mean scraped to the bare earth, salted to remove ice, and dried. Dirt roads will be wet whether snow covered or not. Read that as muddy. In terms of what the Game is simulating, no snow on plowed roads makes sense. That minds may differ means that the rule constitutes a good simulation.

Dang it Jack, you beat me to it.... :D

Having done research in snow mechanics, ask me about the reality of the snow drift rules sometime....

The field arty guys I know scoff at the idea that smoke missions could not be used in mud conditions. But I point out to them that ASL has little to do with simulation and a lot to do with fun.

And remember that a "plowed road" is very little of the FORTY METER hex!!!

So, in ASL, you can't place (effective) smoke on a plowed road. :salute:
