All,
Someone posted on the GS threads, "How many 4-4-7s do you need?

Well, here's my take:

3 for a platoon.

10 for a Company

34 for a Battalion

115 for a Regiment

360 for a Division.

Now these numbers are my own, but I would like to hear others opinions for other Nationalities in the ASL realm?

For the Company I would have said 9 + 2/3 HS who would be manning the H/MMG and 2 50mm MTR. Though by late '44 it could be as low as 6 + 2HS or in '45 4 Sq and a HS or two (2 platoons of 2 squads). Yes the Soviets had official OoB for divisions with 7,000 and 5,000 total.
Soviet pre-'43 had 4 squads per platoon so could have 12 + up to 4 HS (2 H/MMG + 2 50mm MTR), though the H/MMG went to 1 by '42. So for '41 it would be 4/12+4HS/36+12+HS for Pln/Co/Bn.

The British, who always had a very lean organisation would have 3.5 per platoon (HS for the 51* mtr & Pln HQ), about 11 for a company and 45 for a battalion (4 infantry companies/battalion).

With all of those the excess over 3/9/27(or 36 for British) for Pln/Co/Bn would be HS manning H/MMG and 50-60mm mortars.
