you should not throw away these boxes, as they have value and many players, like myself are searching to buy ASL boxes that are in super good shape...
Good point. I hadn’t considered that. I basically had all boxes, mint condition, (except Tarawa) that were taking up space - lots of space. I’d have gladly given them away if someone paid for shipping.

At this point in life (62) I’m looking to divest myself of things that don’t spark joy. And while the boxes have value to some, they (and the entire ASL kit for that matter) won’t have any value whatsoever to my family that will need to dispose of them after I’m no longer around. That just explains my rationale for recycling them now. I do the same for scenario cards once I scan them and back them up - which I know is going to set some folks’ hair on fire. lol.

This timing always feels wrong to me; in an ideal world pre-orders would get their product before anyone else.
Well, in the real world, post-haste shipment might be more relevant than pre-order for its timely delivery. As post-captains may nowadays be more honourable than pre(-)sidents.

Completely agree. I started ASL in 1990 ish - some of my original AH boxes are shattered after years of moving house and questionable storage ! I'd pay to replace them.
Instead of destroying them, put em up for a few quid or give them away .

A few quid? I couldn't be bothered to bring them to the post office for a lot more than that. I hope you find your boxes, but mine are long gone. Once I digitize the scenario cards, they are binned too. I would bin the maps and counters if I ever stop playing face-to-face. -- jim

OK "can't be bothered", I see where you're at. I'm not actively looking for boxes by the way. Just thought you might have a bit of charity in ya, help a fellow player out.

Obviously not.

I have plenty of charity. I won't go into that here. Those who have benefitted from it know who they are. I did it (and continue to do so) to help, not for recognition.

Before I left for Germany, I held a silent auction for my ASL kit I wasn't taking to Germany (rare packs and items). The winners donated their bid to a veterans charity of their choice and showed me a receipt to claim their prize which I shipped to them at my own expense. That raised a couple of thousand dollars for veterans charities.

I gave away more than 100 articles on ASL content to any and all, a web site that I ran at my own expense. The only thing I EVER asked for on my website was for people to contribute to a Go Fund Me for the VASL SSL cert. That SSL cert keeps the VASL site going. I never made a cent.

So please, eff right off with your obviously not. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. -- jim

I can personally vouch for all of the above... A few years back I was very fortunate to score a copy of Operation Veritable from the aforementioned silent auction. He even included the game box at my request.

Drop Zone Book:

Nothing but Courage: The 82nd Airborne's Daring D-Day Mission--and Their Heroic Charge Across the La Fière Bridge-James Donovan

While blocking enemy reinforcements, they had to seize and secure avenues of approach from the beaches to the interior of Normandy, including two bridges (Chef-du-Pont and La Fière) over the modest Merderet River and the key crossroads village of Sainte Mère Église.
