George, TM 28-MACHINE GUN (MG) BUNKER, subsection 'a', states "If the HMG is removed from a MG Bunker, it is automatically replaced with a MMG. If a MMG is returned to a MG Bunker, by a Good Order German MMC, it is automatically replaced with a HMG." With Good Order not being stipulated in the first sentence, does this mean a broken German MMC possessing the HMG in the Bunker could rout out of the MG Bunker with a MMG?

This seems to be the intent, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks!

A broken MMC cannot Rout out of the MG Bunker carrying a 4PP HMG on account of it cannot carry > its IPC (3PP);

Furthermore, a Broken MMC carrying a 3PP MMG or 2PP Dismantled MMG can enter a MG Bunker, but MMG/(dm)MMG it will not be exchanged for a HMG/(dm)HMG.

Hope this answer helps

Yes, it does. It also begs a follow-up question. "If the HMG is removed from a MG Bunker, it is automatically replaced with a MMG." At what point does it automatically get replaced with an MMG? At the end of that unit's MPh? It would seem a GO unit taking it from the MGB would also incur a 4PP tax on its IPC. So, a GO unit could not remove it and exit via their tunnel because of going over their IPC (not allowed in tunnel)?

The HMG is exchange for a MMG when the unit carrying it is outside the MG Bunker (MGB). A GO 1-2-7 crew carrying a HMG spends 1MF to leave the MGB, when it place on the top of the bunker, the HMG is exchanged. Therefore a broken unit cannot carry a HMG out of a MGB; nor could a GO unit carry a HMG through a tunnel.
