I agree that this is one of the readings of the OP.
I thought that perhaps he was venting some temporary frustration, so I pleaded not to jump to that type of conclusion too fast.
And the first reactions of some of the people here were, well, obnoxious, mocking,contemptuous and typical of cultic reproval of apostates.
But as he hasn't interacted positively since then - even after I sent him a pm - I do admit that I hoped too much of the OP and that your reading seems to indeed be the right one.
