Through a very generous act from a friend, I have a copy of Critical Hits 2002 Dien Bien Phu module.

I have a great interest in the first Indochina war so it was much appreciated.

Has anyone played the campaign? Any thoughts on it?

Sorry Craig, I’ve got the module, bought it a couple of years ago from Gamers Armory, but haven’t played it as yet.
I have a couple of Indo-China scenarios in playtest at the moment, with a couple more on the way.

If I remember correctly there is a lot of trench line digging done by the PAVN to get up to the French positions.

Great HASL map, nice geo-morph maps and overlays. The PAVN counters are kind of ugly but useable. The vehicles are cool too, many are identified by the names the crews gave them.

had a great time with the CG. Though you need to work through the PL rules..... so that is sort of a chore.

But lots of fun!

Peace

Always intrigued, but every time I start looking at the PL rules, the air goes out of the balloon of enthusiasm. This gets worse as the years go by and good CGs get published by MMP, FT, LC, etc with very workable CG rules. That just makes PL look that much less worth the effort. I'd love it if MMP or a quality TTP took up the DBP challenge (and Berlin and Buna/Gona for that matter) and make playable versions of those battles.

But if you can handle it, enjoy!

The CG was Dave's baby and it plays well. Those who have played it have reported having a good time with it. It is currently 3-0 French, but that isn't exactly a lot of playings.

Thanks guys.

It's on the list to play. But Red Factories is currently on table, followed by Uncommon Valor and Hatton so it'll be a while.

This thread must be why I'm suddenly being contacted by people trying to purchase the 2nd ed. copies of this game. I'm glad for the renewed interest. I believe the 3rd ed. (which I don't own or sell) retails for $99, minus the usual CH discounts offered.
