Tonight we had our first true European MP game, meaning that each team had more than one player. We did the custom scenario Rumble near the Ems, which ran well after some teething troubles which required me to rename it. Admiral Hipper and myself took over the German fleet, while tanyrhiew and bolitho commanded the Royal Navy.

The scenario opens shortly before sunrise with the German navy split into three parts, SGI with its escorts is about to run into the back of the British BCF while the British BL with eight dreadnoughts follows behind. The second major German group consists of four Kaiser class BB which come to the rescue after some time, and the third group are four pre-dreadnoughts that are some way off. Admiral Hipper took over SGI, I had the rest.

From my point of view, there was not much to do in the first twenty minutes or so. I set the dreadnoughts on an intercept course and tried to do a torpedo run against the enemy BC, but all the TB involved in it were eventually sunk. My BB tried to sink a group of RN CL that stood between it and the enemy BC, as I thought this might make torpedo runs easier, but despite the rising sun shining in the British eyes, the BCF scored many hits on them and forced me to withdraw. The dreadnoughts slowed down and some turrets were knocked out, but they never went out of action and were able to repel enemy torpedo runs with the help of their escorts.

Meanwhile, our BC fought their own battle with the enemy. As I had my own troubles, I didn't pay it much attention, but three of the four CL it had eventually went down. The only substantial British loss was HMS Indefatigable which succumbed to a critical hit while the BCF was taking crossfire from our BC and BB. Despite the presence of enemy BB, they didn't really get much action.

BTW: It seems that the idea with the separate MP games is paying off, no connection problems worth mentioning.

A nice game, gentlemen, and I do hope that we will get a few more players in weeksw to come!

it was also a great fun for me fighting my first Jutland MP battle.
I made some screenshots hoping to show the battle history from the RN side.
The battle started with unlucky Stralsund (and 3 CL more) in the vicinity of the RN BC Group...
unfortunately the RN BB made some collisions which slowed them by 2 knots just at start preventing them mostly to come in range...

In SE four german BB of Kaiser class showed up and changed salvos at max distance with the RN BC in the north (Tiger is selected with the other BC at west) The lonely german ship in the NW is the sinking Strassburg

situation at the end of battle the RN is heading N, some RN CL struggle with some german DD at the south...

We had both ACH settings on which only (from a neutral point of view) caused one critical hit at Indefatigable, means ACH on must not result in a big disadvantage to the brits...

Thanks again to all players, I am looking forward to the next date...

best wishes from Heidelberg,

Thomas

In the light of what happened yesterday, I decided that the German battle fleet needs a bit more firepower - I wonder what would have happened if the RN BL had caught up with us. 16 British capital ships vs. 9 Germans may just be a tad overwhelming, so I added two Helgoland BB to the mix.

Next time I command the RN BB's I intend to avoid collisions like the plague. Wasn't cowardice on my part, honest (cue controversy ala Troubridge).
