To the ASL players looking to play PTO, join the second year of the Deathwish tournament.

8 games in eight months in the PTO timezone, build friendships, play in the Jungle, and shout Banzai every game!

Games start on Jan 7 hoping for 16 players...

All PTO scenarios

Format:
The tournament runs throughout the year with 3 distinct phases;
• Group Stage (3 games): four pools of four players
• Preliminary Finals (2 games): Pool A vs Pool C, Pool B vs Pool D
• Grand Final League (3 games): 2 divisions of 8 players for final placings
Therefore every player will play 8 games, with at least the first 5 games against different opponents.

Initial groupings based on AREA, second round based on first round placings, third round based on combination of results from first and second round results.

Group Stage (3 games)
Commences 7 Jan – ends Apr 3
Game A: choice J12 Jungle Fighter OR DB104 The Police Station
Game B: choice: J35 Siam Sambal OR D123 Probe on the Trail to Hell
Game C: choice: 159 White Tigers OR 67 Cibik’s Ridge

Preliminary League (2 games)
Commences Apr 9 – ends June 30
Scenario TBD

Grand Final League (3 games)
Commences Jul 1 – ends Oct 9
Scenarios TBD
Conventions:
1. All games will be AREA rated and reported to AREA and ROAR by the organiser. Players should report the games to ASL Archive themselves. Subject to the ASL Laddermeister’s agreement, all games will also count for the ASL Ladder.
2. All games are to be played live using VASL or if possible, Face to Face.
3. Use VASL 6.3.0 is the default option.

To enter just email your name, AREA ID if known, and location to ivan.kent00@gmail.com

Deathwish 888 Update

We are nearing the end of the first set of games (another 4 weeks to get those last games finished off).

So far we have a number of surprises from the games;
Group A still 3 games to finish, but Alan Smee has 2 wins so far - so good, and Murray the only other winner so far - must keep pushing!

Group B also has 3 games to finish, however is the closest group with 3 players having 1 win each - all to play for still.

Group C only 1 game left to play, with Darryl Lundy on 3 wins (Well Done!) - Darryl will be first in that group whatever the last result is.

Group D - 2 games to play and Aaron is in the lead here, however if he falters Zhao or Charlie are poised to take the honours.

One match used a completely different scenario to the defined list - but this was let through as they are both new to the Deathwish format :)

Round 1 Games
4 x DB104, 2 wins Axis v 2 wins Allied
4 x J12, 2 wins Axis v 2 wins Allied
Small sample - but balanced

Round 2 Games
1 x Chapei Chopblock, 1 win Axis
2 x Siam Sambal, 1 win Axis v 1 win Allied
3 x DB123, 2 wins Axis v 1 Allied

Round 3 Games
1 x Cibik's Ridge, 1 win Axis

The scenarios for the Preliminary Finals are set (all Commonwealth/Japanese affairs - pink or yellow?):
Game D: either SP249 Non-Stop Gurkhas or J9 A Stiff Fight
Game E: either CC95 Late For Pudding or FrF72 The Mubo Decision

The 2 games for D allow Gurkhas vs Japanese mayhem!
The 2 games for E are designed by Australians, CC95 by Mr David Bishop for Cancon 1995!!! (specially requested), and FrF72 by Andy Rogers (of Canberra Cancon TD fame)
Thank youse both!

It's great to see all these games being played across the region, and also to know that some of us will get to meet in RL in Manila later this year :)

Keep playing, keep rolling low, and keep reporting your results to me...

Regards

Ivan

Also please check into the spreadsheet to keep track of games and the timetable.

Deathwish 888 2016 is into the final round.

Excellent games throughout the year and we are now into the final round...

In the Elite Division, we have Aaron Cleavin against Kyle Li for the championship, and in the 1st Line Division we have Mark McGilchrist against Steve Bond.

So far we have had nearly 60 games played with experienced and new players coming in to the tourney. A number of us were lucky enough to meet each other at Mayhem in Manila to really make some great adversaries (oops friendships).

Once all the games are wrapped up i'll give out some stats, but just to say thanks to all the players for making this a fun tournament.

If you want to be part of next year, pm me...

Dear ASL players

The Asiapac ASL tournament (known as Deathwish 888) 2016 has finished and the champion for the second year is Mr Aaron 'Cleavinator' Cleavin.

Well done Aaron, you will be the recipient of another great model from Vlad See - with great Thanks to Vlad.

The second year of the competition saw a full 8 rounds of play, with the first 5 where each person played to seed a final 3 round championship. There were 16 players (with some drop-outs and fill-ins to compensate).

The scenarios ranged across the whole of the AsiaPac region, meaning multiple references to Chap G.

In the middle of this competition, came the RL FtF tourney in Manila, and many thanks go to the team that put that together, as it forged more fellowship between those who could get there to push cardboard.

So we had 2 scenarios to pick in each of the 8 rounds, meaning that a maximum of 64 games to be played and we got 58 played which was great.

The format allowed for flexibility in organising games, and I had many comments that games were played out easily due to the fact that the players were in our own timezone. Not many VASL tourneys are ambitious enough to get 8 games in, so i thank all of you for keeping with the timetable.

The placings in the 2 divisions were
Elite Division:
1. Aaron Cleavin
2. Zhao Pengyu
3. Li Kyle

First Division:
1. Steve Bond
2. Mark McGilchrist
3. Erez Ben-Aharon

We had players from across the region, and I personally have made a great set of ASL friends that I hope to meet in Siem Reap in July for another ASIAPAC ASL tourney.

We have got Deathwish 888 2017 underway, with some new players, and a new theme for the year. So good times and time to roll low.

Again, congratulations to Aaron and Steve for 2016.
