Hi all,

there has been more than enough interest to run this tournament, so Chris and I will go ahead with this small event (8-16 participants and 4 rounds max).

Some folks might get a by for the first round, the format is knockout. All games in the same round will play the same Death To Fascism scenario, as follows:

Round 1: DTF-4 Death To Fascism

Round 2: DTF-7 Fast and Furious

Round 3: DTF-8 The Art of War

Final: new DTF scenario

My planning right now is this:

First round games to be completed on Monday and/or Tuesday.

Second Round on Wednesday morning

Third Round on Wednesday afternoon/Thursday morning

Final: Thursday afternoon

These time frames are Eastern USA times, so roughly 5-6 hours behind our European participants - in other words the Wednesday morning round would be afternoon for Europe. However if I can match up two European participants I will do so, until the finals.

I still have a few spots available, so if this time frame and these scenarios work for you, please let me know by Thursday (this week) latest.

Once the tournament is underway, I will create an "event" thread in the specialised section of this forum. Communication with participants will be by email.

A quick update for everyone interested in this - we now have 14 confirmed participants (and one person interested but uncertain in terms of availability on the planned dates).

So if anyone else is interested to play in this event (it is knockout, so it may be short and sweet/sour) please drop me a line today (Wednesday) or tomorrow (Thursday).

I will make pairings this Friday with first games planned for Easter Monday, as earlier indicated.

The tournament entry is now closed, we have 15 confirmed participants.

One person has gracefully offered to be on standby, since his work commitments may prevent him from playing on the planned dates.

Our field comprises of

9 players from the USA: Chuck Tewsbury, Paul Schaeffer, Nate Stapf, Rich Domovich, Rob Loper, Neil Ekengren, Kevin Killeen, Todd Hively and David Goldman.

5 players from the UK (including notably 2 from Scotland): Dave Ramsey, Marc Hanna, Joe Arthur, Tony Gibson and Steve Cook

1 player from Canada: James Rimmer

The first round will take place on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 April. More information has been sent to participants.

I hope it will be a fun event for everyone.

Dear all,

the pairings for the first round of the tournament are completed; all participants have received an email. Games will be played on VASL on Monday and Tuesday.

All games will be DTF-4 Death To Fascism. Two out of seven games will be played with a small Russian balance (+2 and +3 SWPP, respectively). All other games will be played as printed.

The first round pairings are:

Ramsey - Gibson
Arthur - Cook
Hanna - Rimmer
Hively - Domovich
Killeen - Schaeffer
Goldman - Tewsbury
Ekengren - Stapf

Rob Loper has a bye for the first round.

Once the tournament starts, I will create a new thread (here in Events) with all information and space for any comments/cheerings/meddling/wisecracking.
