If I place a DC in a hex where my AFV is holding an enemy squad in Melee, does the DC affect my AFV? Compare last sentence of A11.5 with first sentence of A23.5.

The DC can affect the AFV only if AFV was the designated target of such DC attack (and that AFV is not held in Melee).

If enemy units in a hex includes an AFV, placement of a DC effects the AFV only if designated. The melee does not change application of the rule.

However, there is an instance that any non-armored units in the same Location with the AFV could be attacked. If the DC Final Placement DR is 12 or greater any non-armored units in the Location would be attacked as Area Fire even though they were not specified as the targets of the DC Placement attempt (C7.346).

[EDIT] Note if Melee existed in the Location, all Melee units, including friendly units, would be subject to attack as per above.
