Hi all,

An AFV failed its bog check (D8.2), and the question came up: is there anything the AFV may do upon that result during its MPh other than end its MPh? Button up, change TCA, grenade smoke, anything? D8.21, as follows, implies no; thus, must "anything" wait until a later phase?

"[D]8.21 BOG CHECK: If a Final Bog Check DR is ≥12, the vehicle bogs, is marked with a Bog counter, and must end its MPh immediately."

Cheers,

The steps in sequence.
  1. Declare that you are entering Bog terrain. At the same time declare other things you can do as part of the MP expenditure (go CE/BU, turn you TCA, etc.). Placing smoke is not part of another MP expenditure, but a separate MP expenditure. If you want to place Smoke you have to do so before step 1 or as part of step 3 if you get there.
  2. Make the Bog DR. If you Bog you can't do anything else during that MPh. Skip step 3.
  3. If you pass the Bog check you can do other things that cost MP or are part of a MP expenditure.

In other words, once you roll the dice and bog, the MPh for that unit is OVER.

Not entirely. The player whose vehicle Bogged can't make any decisions/changes, but the opponent can still fire at it.

Just as you can still fire when the moving player says "and stop for my last MP." But the question was not about defender options, it was about moving player options.

Because if we are going to include fire options, there are also all the results of that fire on the vehicle that bogged up to and including the flip that bad boy over and put a flame on it.
