... and so do I in a few months...

And I KNOW there's enough people on here who will get these... :cheeky:

The Top 15 Things Overheard at D&D's 30th Birthday Party

15> "A jug of mead and four magic stones, same as in town."
14> "I am going to roll these commemorative 30-sided dice
until I get two 30s. This is so COOL!"
13> "Like my costume? I made it in the many hours I save by
never dating."
12> "I believe there are some Doritos in my bag of holding."
11> "Never trust anyone over level 30."
10> "The Cleric asks the bartender for a drink."
9> "Yeah, it wasn't easy, but I managed to squeeze a few
days away from my extremely important job as a respected
Internet humor writer to be here."
8> "Would you rather leave the welfare of your children to
a 20-sided die or let me sell you some life insurance?"
7> "Say what you will: Professional D&D has never been the
same since the lockout."
6> "Hey, can you spot me money for a beer? Those bullies at
the Magic: The Gathering convention next door beat me up
and stole my wallet."
5> "Man, it's cool that Gygax's mom let us have this in their
basement!"
4> "Hey, baby, wanna see my +9 Pole of Lust?"
3> "Of course I still play every Saturday night. Except when
I get called in to fix the server."
2> "OK, roll 3d10, and if you get higher than a 26, I'll let you
touch them."

Ah the good ole days.

When if you told a person you played RPGs, they KNEW you meant actual rolegames, not something played on a machine.

When being a geek was assumed, if you said you played a rolegame.

And you couldn't hide behind the computer screen, you actually had to have people with you to play the game.

Sort of like wargames eh :)

It seems today, the phrase "I play rolegames", means you probably get mistaken for someone that likes EQ, Baldur's Gate like designs or Final Fantasy type console games.

No one ever makes the leap of logic and assumes I meant Alternity.

haha! great stuff.

Things you shouldn't say at a D&D convention:

1. Whilst playing a game ask, "Can I build a hotel here (chuckle, chuckle)?"

2. When other state their game character class (fighter, hobbit, dwarf) use your creative imagination and try, 'Man-eating carp.'

damn...all me brain can come up with..and they are weak to start! ha ha

Happy Birthday, D&D!!

Great movie link Fallen. Anyone who has played D&D will immediately associate with that movie.

Reminds me of those "DM's from hell" where you have to spell everything out using college trigonometry just to explain how you walk through a door. Otherwise, you couldn't enter a room and couldn't participate in defending your party when they suddenly get attacked from all directions. This is in grade school of course. :smoke:

One fond memory I have of playing D&D is one time my group was doing so well against everything we ran into that we started to get cocky with our DM. After finally taking enough of our BS he finally led us onto a teleporter which took us to a room that contained "one of every kind of monster." Suddenly we all had to go home for dinner.

Good, I was about to feel really ancient... my 1st D&D experience was pre-D&D: I played Chainmail in grade school during lunch, we got all excited when a few grades later we bought the additional "new" rules that allowed levels above 3, and also introduced that fancy-dancy thing called "character class" -- ya mean there's more choices than Fighter, Dwarf, Elf, Wizard or Rogue ?!? Whoo baby!!! Then Keep On The Borderlands came & we thought we'd died & gone to heaven...
:D
Good times, good times.

Still have Keep on the Borderlands along with alot of other 2nd ed. modules. Remember the one with the lasers and power armor? Still have all of the 2nd ed. manuals and some of the D&D add on books. Boy do I feel old all of a sudden.
