Custom Icons

I've tried replacing standard icons with custom icon but get an error message:

"Image file not found"

I've been dabbling with a couple of freeware icon editors, maybe they're crap. What's a good one?

My first thought is that the error may result from the filename. DA files should not have any open spaces in the filename. Thus, "Tank Bn.ico" should be either "TankBn.ico" or "Tank_Bn.ico".

Secondly, Visual Studio 6 does not accept icons that are created in 32 bit color, 24 bit color and lower is fine though.
