Hi,
came across the following situation in our game yesterday and not sure if we resolved it correctly or not:
A German stack of 2*4-6-7 and a 8-1 leader in a building hex are targeted by an onboard Russian 82mm mtr. The Russian rolls a double 1 on his TH which, we believe, is a critical hit against the German Units. We checked that with other TH mods the attack was still a hit even and it was, although we don't think for Area fire that this makes a difference to the CH result.
We thus rolled for random selection for the critical hit as follows:
8-1 leader - RS 3
4-6-7 - RS 5
4-6-7 - RS 5
So both the 4-6-7 infantry were effected by the critical hit but the leader was not this resulted in a 32 -3 attack on the two 4-6-7 (82mm mtr 16*2 for critical hit= 32 and then TEM reversed) ) and an 8 +3 attack on the leader (82 mm mtr 16/2 for halving on onboard mtrs = 8 +3 TEM)
A 7 was rolled yielding a net 4 on the 32 column of the IFT against the infantry (2KIA) and a net 10 against the leader on the 8 column of the IFT against the leader (miss).
A KIA result indicates that all other unit in the hex are broken meaning that the leader should be broken? this seems strange as the leader was excluded from the critical HT by random selection but appears to have to suffer the consequences as if it were hit by the CH or are the two results treated independently only against the targets in that category, I.e. those hit by the CH and those not? E.G. if there were 3 MMC's in the target hex rather than two and all three were hit by the critical hit after RS then 2 would be KIA'd (again by RS) and the 3rd would be broken? but in no circumstances would the leader be effected by the CH results as it was not part of the CH.
We are not sure how to apply these results any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Simon
