Ok, at the risk of sounding stupid, why do you even want to clip your counters. I have been playing SL/ASL since 1979 and I have never understood why anyone would want to intentionally destroy their counters. Please help me understand the benefits of clipping counters as right now I don't see any reason for it. Thanks.

I've never understood it either, but why not put this in the topic that already exists discussing counter clipping?

We don't need any more steenkin counter clipping topics.... ;)

We must bring you miscreants to the light... so one more topic is needed..

As you carefully punchout your counters..no mater how careful you are there will be "fuzz" or "tits" left at corners or along the side---clipping removes this abomination and cleanses the counters for use on the Holy Mapboards...

Wondering

I was wondering if this thread is refering to cutting off the fuzzy titted hanging chads that are on the corners of the counters when you punch them out or is it refering to cutting away the whole corner of the counter as I have seen some people do. I think it is two different issues. I am not a corner cutter but I do trim off the fuzzy titted chads. :?

Moderate clipping theology.
Dear brethren, clipping the side corners of vehicle counters helps them to fit within hex.
Thus, transforming the counters without alienating their true identity.
This is the true way of leading a game to perfection.
Of course, one can clip the bad corners of a counter : a special redemption rite can then be accomplished.
First, one can go on and clip all corners.
But the superior way is to buy the module another time : thus, you bless MMP by your double tithing and you anchor your mind in the typical over perfectionism of wargamers. So near of salvation...
But I bet it is a cardboard paradise you would have won. 8)

P. S. There is controversy about clipping two corners of 5/8" ? counters, so as to truly hide identity of counters they overlap. I call for peace and an oecumanical reunion to fix this debate berore a true civilization war is unleashed.

The way of the clipper is akin to circumcision.

The blasphemous counter cutter is performing castration...

I guess that is the problem with some of the counter cutting I have seen. The counters end up as an octagon instead of a square. I trim the excess cardboard after I punch out new counters but I didn't consider this counter clipping. I always thought counter clipping was almost rounding the counters for no apparent reason. I like the word picture of castration vs circumcision, that kind of says it all. Got to be careful how much you cut off. YIKES!!!

Dear Nonce and High Priest,
Circumcision can sometimes be accomplished for medical reasons.
May we call up a Council to give exceptions for some counter clipping?

Besides, your ASLology seems to rebuke circumcision... Does this mean you consider baptizing the counters?
The last time my counters were unvoluntarily covered with steaming hot coffee, their survival was difficult... By luck (blasphemy! there is no luck!) they were british counters and they just got a little darker (which could easily reproduce their physical condition in the desert).

Technical note : confusion between castration and circumcision could not hope an oecumenical reflexion about counter clipping (their "balls" are not the counter angles, but the numerical values).
