Useful SASL resources

Hans Mielants' ASL Page
http://www.mielants.com/Simulation/ASL.html

SASL historical campaigns and alternative missions. Site of the armor-oriented "Tank SASL" variant and campaigns.

SALSA II
http://benedict.isomedia.com/homes/delwood/SALSAII.html

PC SASL helper application to roll ENEMY activations and actions. Good for SASL play on VASL or if you have a pc at your ASL table.

SASL QRDC
http://forums.gamesquad.com/showpost.php?p=934481&postcount=2

The Quick Reference card. A must-have.

Digit's Baker Company Campaign
http://www.geocities.com/digit_asl/campaignpage.htm

If you're new to SASL, watch these! They are annotated VASL replays of several SASL campaign missions with refit steps. An excellent lesson for new players. Also, download the SASL board found here to keep track of eliminated / retained units in VASL campaign games.

Group SASL
http://www.showcase.netins.net/web/lubbensite/gsasl.htm

Cooperative multiplayer grand SASL concept. Also has custom missions.

http://showcase.netins.net/web/lubbensite/gsaslmore.htm

"More SASL" subpage with tables for additional nationalities, modified campaign mission selection table, and replacement mapboard selection table.

Q: I may be an id10t but how do you play sasl on vasl? I have installed both VASL & SALSAII on my computer but don't know how to link them . I hate dusty boards and knocked over counters and lack a ftf opponent. I would appreciate any HELP[/I]

Probably not the best thread to post a question, but...

There's no 'link' between them, they are separate entities, VASL acts as your 'virtual' board and pieces, and you go to SALSA when you need to make activation checks, or prep fire actions for example.

For VASL, I display the "VASL Activation Window" and "Activation mini-controls" from the SALSA Game menu. I roll AC dr in VASL, and if the S? activates, use the SALSA "Man. Act" button to see what units it is. Those windows are small and will fit your VASL layout to avoid lots of paging back and forth.

If you have a microphone, SALSA also has voice recognition capability. Press ctrl-h to see the available voice commands.

There is a comprehensive listing at the bottom of my Master ASL Scenario Listing available in the download section of this site.

For the SALSA programme i'm going to purchase a netbook to run it on, and just do the dice rolling for the ASL portion of SASL. A laptop seems to take up too much space. So for this reason my SASL'ing is on hold at the moment! (sorry if this is a bit off topic).

Le Franc Tireur 11 (which is still in print) has an amazing looking SASL historical campaign featuring the 1st Ranger Battalion in Italy.

It's a true SASL hidden treasure!

Since I almost play all SASL, I would like to thank you guys for the information that has open a larger world into this. I have found all of the websites very helpful.

Re: Useful SASL resources

MESSAGE to the notorius and great 'General' Zucker of GSASL fame. It's been many moons and hills lost and taken since I was part of one of your campaigns. Forget which one....I know I did a couple of 'Ranger' scenarios....and German 35th Infantry I think. Kevin Conley of North Carolina and I now have a fictional GSASL campaign running around Island of MALTA circa 1942. You are welcome to check out our website www.gsasl2015recruits.wordpress.com We have about 20 people playing including Rick Lubben and Joergen Holmquist. We've just completed Mission One with an active 9 Italian Compagnia and 9 German Kompanie. If you want to touch base or send others to my attention .... jim.bennett@shaw.ca Hope you are still playing ASL.

Re: Useful SASL resources

Further to www.gsasl2015recruits.wordpress.com
It has had a recent update .... Campaign about to start MISSION 3 on Island of Malta as of weekend of October 11, Looking for some replacement troops on Italian side...and maybe could handle couple more on German side as well.
Contact jim.bennett@shaw.ca if you are SASL fan and want to learn campaign style with GSASL and have some fun.... We currently have around 20 players involved. Can also handle teaching of basic SASL play via SKYPE AND VASL. Open to whatever it takes to get more involved.
