Due to a threatening disk crash I had to switch to another computer. Still "oldish", Windows 10. I reinstalled VASSAL 6.6.5 and VASL 3.6.9 from scratch, hereafter copied over same extensions and maps. As before I have two monitors with the "map" window on one and all other windows on the other.

On my new computer the "controls window" (i.e. the window with the "File" menu and the Extensions Bar) cannot be resized. If it is operated in "full screen mode" it works fine. If I try to make it smaller, I only see the very top strip with the text "filename VASL 6.6.5 - VASSAL 3.6.9" - the rest of the window does not appear. It does not matter if I have it open on the main or the secondary monitor. Probably VASSAL, but has anybody had/solved this problem?

My first suggestion would be to revert to vassal 3.6.7. I built vasl6.6.5 using vassal 3.6.7. See if that solves the issue.

I've been running 3.6.9/6.6.5 on Windows 10 ever since 3.6.9 came out and have seen no issues, as well as 3.6.9 and an old version of TLD. Does your non-full screen window allow you to grab the corners/sides and change the size (including even drawing the double ended arrows when you hover on the corner/side)? Is this problem just for the control window (I think it is per your description). Can you drag the control window to your other screen? (testing to see if that drag functionality works). Also follow the now standard debug routine per the link Michael referenced - remove all extensions (I just have a subfolder in my extensions folder that I can drag them to quickly and then drag one back out of that folder to see if any of them are causing the problem).

Even with just this size window (only the windows header) I can resize it.

Thanks for your help, in particular "apbills". I am glad I am only a FORMER IT specialist, as it would be embarrassing to have to admit an "Error 40" otherwise. 🆒
