The game manual for Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy is now available for online viewing! The 200 (!) page manual (available in a fully printed version in the Limited Steelbook(TM) edition on pre-order right now) explains the basic game mechanics, editor and map making, as well as the major units and weapons available. For the first time included also is an in-depth tutorial by beta tester 'Normaldude'.

Maybe they are holding back the release until all the Steelbooks are sold out.

I don't think so. Look at the manual on that site yes. Read that manual in that print size and resolution...I don't think so.

Good Hunting.

You do realize that you can click on a page and expand it somewhat right?

I for one, did a little reading. Not having played any CM since CMAK, and not having kept up with the forums, i wasn't sure how artillery was called. Now i know. Sounds like a huge improvement.

Oh snap. Poor guy went though a ton of work and got his screen name printed wrong on Facebook. He is Normal Dude not Normaldude.

Check out BlitzCanucks posts below.

(Side note: Hey Blitz, just finished watching my Flyers finish off Buffy. And gonna watch the Chi game. Tonight and tomorrow are some fun nights for being a hockey fan!)

Congrats on your Flyers advancing! Sabres put up a good fight but Briere refused to let his team lose.
Watching Hawks/Canucks game right now.......gotta love game 7's and first round playoffs.

I am disappointed that more wasn't done with the map editor. At least they finally put a flavor object chart in. I still can't believe they make you switch back and forth from 2D to 3D to manipulate flavor objects.

I also noticed almost no changes were made to the AI system in the editor. That is the most disappointing part. I would guess that anyone who likes building scenarios and never played CMSF is going to find it very hard to have only 8 groups and almost no commands available to the AI on start up.

No such luck. The marketing geniuses over at BFC decided that you will have to buy the game and wait for its release for that little perk.
Yup. They seem to be following the lead of those other marketing geniuses at Tiger Wood PGA Tour 12, Drangon Age II Civilization V and PC:O. How these people manage to tie their own shoes puzzles me sometimes.

Released early to boot... and as a PDF, wow, I guess their marketing managed to tie their shoes and get to work on that day...

Perhaps BFC should hire you, you seem to have all the qualifications to make it as one of the BFC rock star employees. Albeit you might want to get someone to check your shoelaces for you...

nice! big manual coming in at 200pages!
:)

I only looked at a few pages...but all of them have that ugly brownish "field manual" color! I hope the entire manual does not have this style.

Is "Warrior" setting new? (p.61)

Actually, it discusses time delays, too.

I see Scenario Author Test mode mentioned on p. 60 which we discussed a few months ago.

Interesting...the split teams works differently than I thought - seems more logical too. If it works the way I am interpreting it. Rather than presuming that "doctrine" was to split into specific groups, I think the manual is saying you can just detach teams from a squad for specific purposes - the equivalent of saying - "you, you and you - go scout that barn" or "you, you and you - assault that trench!"

Seems to make sense.

That's a nice feature, if true, for the detail-oriented folks.
