Gents,

Have I been playing this wrong forever? If an infantry unit enters into CC and then remains in Melee can either unit in a subsequent round of CC declare HtH if allowed? PTO is different, I know.

I had always played that if non-HtH was declared in an ETO desert scenario then the melee remained non HtH for the duration, but I'm beginning to think that this may not be the case.

Cheers

Paul

Ok, got the answer... HtH can be declared by the attacker, assuming HtH is allowed.

There are more nuances.
Ambush may be declared by the attacker only if he isn't ambushed (J2.31).
In the case of Japanese, a Japanese attacker which is not ambushed or a Japanese defender which ambushes the attacker must declare HtH (G1.64). The same applies to Chinese Dare-Death squads (G18.62).
Ghurka who are attackers which are not ambushed or defenders which ambush the attacker may declare HtH (A25.43).
