Just been chatting to Michael Dorosh about his gif file of The Breskens Pocket map. Why not play the scenario and double the OOB he suggested. That is not a bad idea!

Anyone ever play this bad boy?

I wouldn't mind trying this if you are up for a PBEM. Send me the details and we can get started!

Hi, I'm afraid I do not do VASL. Sorry. The title of this thread was more of a rhetorical question.

I just got a bit carried away because I have been wanting a map of this scenario with all the modifications for ages. Suddenly I found it at the scenario archive.

I have all the modified boards as individual gif files (done as old VASL boards) if you want them. You can probably print them and push some cardboard.

Have already got those. Michaels map is the whole thing in one piece. It has been added to the resources.

Clearing The Breskens Pocket is such an iconic scenario. I'm surprised no one seems to have played it.

I've played it as a PBeM (as British).

8138

It's a bit tough on the Germans when the British can enter the survivors of U-36 ("Operation Switchback"). The British already enjoy enough of a numerical superiority without having to give them more.

The other thing I found a bit odd was the fact that U-38 ("Clearing The Breksens Pocket" when spelt correctly ?) is a total of 34 turns long, where U-36 and U-37 ("Scheldt Fortress South") are a total of 31 turns.

So, the Brits get reinforcements AND 3 more turns in U-38 ??? Hmmmmmm …..

John.

Google has "Breskens" as the correct spelling.

I've played the original Coastal Fortress one. It's a blast.

And it's definitely spelt Breskens (sorry sunoftzu)
