Yes, and I can't wait until we expand into Europe. I'll never be able to work out a favourite beer.

Well, I for one was quite glad that Paul left a "goodbye." (My understanding is, he's only banned for a month, so he might be back...)

I don't have a (huge) problem with anti-American posts or whatever; they do force me to re-inspect my own thoughts etc.

I do notice about myself, that I have a pretty big problem with anyone who posts opinions to these threads, that are contradicted by the facts obtainable from multiple sources, who then continue (even when those facts are shared) to repeat their opinions again & again. That's just me I guess.

Also I don't think that personal attacks by anyone are either mature or healthy. We're all here to learn more about Military History, or at least to enjoy Military Gaming...

What made the difference between say Paul & Curt was simply this: when Curt goes overboard & someone informs him, he does tone it down. Paul didn't (& it wasn't just the moderators that communicated with Paul on the NATURE of his posts either).

ANYWAY I continue to welcome "anti-America" stuff, however I do very much hope that we can all return to a more civil debate. Also I find myself enjoying the forums more, when "anti-" (& "pro-") American posters agree to actually look at the facts.

Case in point: "Were American assertions of WMD in Iraq also supported by other nations" - a thread in these forums that Paul & I along with others were debating in. Hopefully after his suspension is up, Paul & I will return to that discussion.

I just viewed Paul's post.

Was the vast majority unacceptable? No. Did it contain personal attacks? Kinda.

This post was civil in comparison to his previous ones. He made a fairly decent argument and was taken out of context by most as being some sort of "prick" as he put it. This wasn't the case here and I am disappointed that he was banned for this one (others maybe).

Deltapooh:

This event and others could lead to a rapid disintegration of our forum.

Has it happened before? Hell yes! Just take a look at the Matrix forum of in which I was so fond of (I left). Things like this happened far to often and lead to its removal.

Sorry to say but I foresee similar events happening here.

Ahh so some of your work associates think you are a fascist baby killing supporter of oil magnate political leaders with a distorted pro-US view of the world too?
It happens once more.

I served in the armed forces in Iraq so I guess that overshadows the actions of civilians.

How many babies have I killed? Oh man I can't count anymore.

Was all that really necessary?

I could assume that Danny but it is an assumption.

...and everyone knows when you make an assumption you make an ASS-INUPTION out of yourself. :D

You know it really bothers me that I go to some trouble to defend the actions of my government on what is the home front because I support them and our allies but then have to deal with idiot comments from the fatheads that I'm copping crap for supporting in the first place. And the more it goes on the less support you end up getting until I don't care anymore and then public support here swings against our government and then it's one ally less. But at least the fatheads have had their say and I won't have to worry about being justifying the actions of our government. So go right ahead and chalk up another ally to collateral damage.

You know who the stupidist people were that I've come across. It would be the anti-war protesters who I had to send water to because they had no idea that blockading access to our admin area would be hot and dangerous in 40 deg heat. You come a close second. I've also had to put up with paint bombers and flour bombers and other stuff in respect of my governments support of your actions so go stuff it up your yap. At least you get to shoot at the enemy.

No sarcasm. He cops flak it seems and I cop it too for supporting our current foreign policy.

Fair enough. Wasn't trying to put words in your mouth mate, just trying to avoid a confrontation between the two of you. It seems I was a bit late.

Did you even look at my previous posts John?

Did I ever lump you within the "idiots and fatheads" as you put it? No.

For Christ's sake...

At least when you are fighting an armed enemy you get to shoot them, but it's a whole different kettle of fish if you take a sideways look at some weekend socialist who hasn't had a bath for a week, wouldn't know what a comb was, and wants to have a go at anybody in uniform just to get on the news.

Just because you've been on active service and I haven't you get to dish it out, just because I was never deployed. Sorry but we didn't have a war just so I could talk to you on equal footing. There was a general rule which I support that whoever has been on active service gets some measure of respect and precedence over those never deployed overseas, but when they make a point of it all the time and then speak rubbish they lose that respect.

Well of course not. It still stands that OUR vets have been there and you have not.

Must it really continue? And yes, you are not on an equal footing with those such as Canadians, Aussies, Brits etc. that have been there.

Well, I didn't post "Rubbish" as you put it.

Your support is noted and respected.

Thank you.

Okay so I'll just leave it to the vets to support our current foreign policy.

Like I said I accept that and think it's right, but when you want to use it like it's your free ticket then I have no respect for you.

Like I said, you don't seem to care less about those who are supporting current foreign policy in the face of opposition at home, and that is the equivalent of rubbish, because once you lose the home front you have lost the war.

I get the impression that my support is noted, respected and not worth squat because I'm now a civilian so I'm wasting my time because it's not necessary.

Gentlebeings,

I've never served a day in the military unless you count Army ROTC in which I was forced out of with a bad back. I don't support the President's domestic agenda. I do support our fighting men and women and out gallant allies. Now that I have placed my bona fides before you; let me be candid. Everyone is behaving like children. I was under, mistaken appearantly, impression that adults could have a civil discourse without resorting to name calling or whining. Nobody should expect 100% agreement 100% of the time. What a person has done or has not done does not invalidate their opinion. We can respect what a person has done, but it's not an automatic sainthood. :) Let's resort to a more genial tone and if offended; back away from the keyboard for a few minutes and relax.

Now that I have my flame retardent underwear on; have at me. I am an adult. Name calling hasn't bothered me since I was little boy.

Your Mate (really!),
