The engine got a couple of things wrong, but I think it is leaning toward the IIFT. We could refine this by pointing out the mistakes as ChatGPT is built to carry on a dialogue.

My query:
Which is more realistic in advanced squad leader games, the ift or the iift?

In Advanced Squad Leader (ASL), "IFT" stands for "Intelligence Feedback Table." The IFT is used to resolve indirect fire, such as artillery and mortars, and is one of the key mechanisms for determining combat results in the game.

There are two versions of the IFT in ASL: the original IFT and the modified IFT (often referred to as the "IFT-A" or "Alternate IFT"). The original IFT uses a single die roll to determine the result of an indirect fire attack, while the modified IFT uses two separate die rolls and provides more nuanced results.

Both the original and modified IFT have their strengths and weaknesses and the choice between them is a matter of personal preference and play style. Some players prefer the simplicity of the original IFT, while others prefer the added realism and detail of the modified IFT.

In general, both the original and modified IFT are designed to provide realistic and tactical results, but the modified IFT is considered by some players to be a more nuanced and realistic representation of indirect fire in ASL.

My query:
in Advanced Squad Leader, what does IIFT stand for?

In Advanced Squad Leader, IIFT stands for "Infantry In Flight Table". It's a table used to determine the results of infantry units being forced to retreat or flee from combat. The IIFT can result in the units being disrupted, eliminated, or routing.

ChatGPT, putting aside the hype about it, has no problem with stating wrong things and even making up things (that is, lying).
It can "quote" an author, citing words that the latter never wrote.
Many examples are accumulating about, not only its limits, but its deep flaws.
The present example clearly shows some of the problems noted by a lot of specialists.

Folks, I think that @johnl has contrieved to put an entirely new twist to the IFT/IIFT debate after all these years!

This is a notable achievement in itself. On top of that, the (immediate) result is funny.

Thus I nominate his thread/idea to be rewarded with the Spuddy Award (which I have not seen for quite a long time).

What says the (human) hivemind?

Here's another one I asked: What were Michael Caine's experiences in the Korean War?
Answer: Michael Caine, born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, is an English actor who was born in 1933. He did not serve in the Korean War, which took place from 1950 to 1953, as he would have been only 17 to 20 years old during that time period.
In reality he served with the Royal Fusiliers.

ChatGPT is like a young child in that you can trick it into believing anything as long as you remain in the same conversation. This would allow you to have it write a well-constructed essay full of misinformation that you can then copy and paste to social media or Gamesquad. For example, this is from a YouTube tutorial. Now you can authoritatively paste here that the IIFT is indeed the way to go.

ChatGPT was asked what is the sum of 10 and 9 and it replied 19. The image is of the continuation of this conversation...

I had a friend in college who claimed that he got ELIZA to "tell" him to kill himself, although I was never able to get it to respond with anything that stupid.
