Hi All – Just getting some time to do these RVs again and a good place to start is something new
Again – if you want to bag CH – please “get your own thread!” not mine
Big Picture
CH Annual 5 is divided into
Magazine (General articles, Linked Articles for the Scenarios within (25 contained) and Rules for planes of Arab-Israeli conflict and Helicopter rules updated
6 CH Boards (hist)-4 desert- 2 Normandy
3.5 counter sheets (Arab-Israeli conflict)
In Detail ?
Magazine ?
Counters
Sheet 1 – Helicopters and Jets (lots of different types as per the historical pages in the magazine)
Sheet 2 – More Israeli Vehicles (the scenarios do tend to have large numbers)- and the new CH acquired counters (there is a rule in the magazine that I have seen before on how to use these new counters compared to the older ones (idea is they are large- special – sit at bottom of stack and not like area ones)
Sheet 3 – More Arab Vehicles – plus guns plus a few playing counters
Sheet 4 – ½ - extra Israeli SAMs and play ability counters
Maps
AN1-AN4 – Desert boards that fit together in CH Map panel size for the Arab Israeli scenarios within
AN5 – a city (12 blocks) next to a River
AN6 – a hunk of Normandy

- 5 pages of General Spiel – usual CH stuff…….Rays style is Rays style! – its like MMP mags and LFT mags now as well and full of “rules peekers” like a rule for medics!
- 2 pages Sword Beach AAR – brief read and really just an overview
- 5 pages article on the Israeli 7th Armoured Brigade that links to 6 Scenarios of the Brigade played on the 4 Historical Desert Boards provided so really an extended designers comment linked closely to the History of The Israeli Attack on Egypt on 5-8 June 1967 – a really enjoyable read to have the history and scenarios lined so well (I will comment on scenarios below as set a few up solo)
- 5 pages article by Mr Holst (reaped from a previous Annual) linked to a scenario in Normanby (with the historical board included) – reading it for the second time I appreciated it even more – well written and love they way he dissects the scenario into bocage tactics – great effort!
- 2 pages design notes for 3 scenarios set at Aug-Sept 43 post Kursk to do with the poles since it’s a real-life recollection story of what actually happened lined up with historical sources – nice read and linkage around why and where the scenarios fit in history
- 5 pages Arab- Israeli aircraft rules and historical notes – as expected someone has done some very nice research – The simplified JSR – rules for jets in aircraft are supplied – very different to FW and I have never played air support in any of the FW scenarios so maybe I don’t know the actual difference
- 6 pages of helicopter rules – I would take a few weeks to dissect them versus pervious – my solo play of helicopters is they are like Halftracks but basically ignore terrain and probably are weaker than I play them solo – a competitive game is needed for me here since I have read the rules too many times as they keep getting slightly tweaked and updated – I cant compare with MMP FW since I don’t think they have Helicopter rules (or the recent LFT product)
