Thanks for showing an interest, Capitan Piluso.
One of the factors I was counting on in some of the scenarios I am creating for the Indochine Campaign is mine warfare. It is, in varying degrees, an important part of some of the strategic and tactical Indochine war plans. The first time the Indochine Campaign player encounters mine warfare is in "The Canal." After building the scenario I began my test play and immediately ran into many problems. I consulted Herman Hum, who gave me the rundown on the ANW profile of mine warfare weaponry in the game and a bit of history of how it was structured. All the mine clearance weapons ran at 1nm, which is a good game paradigm to reflect real world conditions (a tedious affair). As to game play though, its deadly slow and painfully boring. So, that needed to be changed. I changed them all to 10nm. Also, the loadout time was very long. So, I hastened the loadout time for the weapons as well. There were some glitches with helo loadouts and the actual weapons assigned to the loadouts. Those were changed so that when a helo landed to reload it actually reloaded with a matched weapon and was able to conduct a new mission. The last thing that was a glitch was the depth at which mines would be placed and at what depth the weapons could go to disarm them. The mines would sit at the bottom at what ever depth they were placed, and that could not be changed. The lowest a mine clearance weapon could go would be 50m, so if the mine sat in 75m of water, you were out of luck. The compromise I settled for was that I changed the depth that the mine clearance weapons would dive to - 500m, (not a realistic depth but necessary to help scenario design and game play), and then settled for the fact that whenever I included mines in my scenarios, I would be limited to placing mines in water that was that depth or less.
That's basically the changes that were made to accomodate smoother game play with mine sweeping operations in Caso dB Scenarios.
Thanks for the question.
Best, Alan Caso
Thanks, hope I can try this one soon.
Meanwhile, could you please explain in detail how these recent changes have affected gameplay ??
