The H3 link is superfluous. I put it in since it is part of our pro-forma announcement template.

Yes, you must select the CasoDB in the ANW/HUE launcher before the battleset/scenario selection can be made.

The 13th NEW Harpoon scenario of the year!
04 The Asian Dunkirk

The Allies must get all military assets out of South Korea and fortify Japan. With attacks on South Korea intensifying from the North Koreans, the noose is tightening as the Indochine Alliance begins to form their blockade on these two Allied members.

This is the fourth scenario written for ANW and HUE using the customized CasoDB. The scenario and database are bundled within the PlayersDB installation file due to its phenomenal popularity and ease of use.

I just finished playing this one through. A very nice and busy scenario with the AI resisting almost to the very end.

The attacks were constant and challenging. The hard part was finding where I could re-arm and re-load. Once that was figured out, I managed to hold back the assault with minimal losses. Donghae got hammered by AGMs, but I managed to protect the other bases. I ran out of AMRAAM in Seoul, but the ammo dumps on other bases were sufficient.

The sub placement was nicely done and gave a few surprises. The really hard part was realizing that the escorts could not stay with the slower transports or else they would not be able to reach the ref pt. before the game ended.

Well done Herman! That was the trap I set for the player. The desire to protect transports is very strong in all of us, so we tend to do that automatically. However, in order to win the game, it is important to take the advice of the orders, and get the specified classes safely to the ref points first, and try to protect the transports with what aircraft you can muster and rearm. A very challenging prospect. As for trying to save the bases, well, I tip my hat to you. I would not have been so gallant. They will fall to the North Koreans anyway, and the battle to regain them is not for another year. I am happy to hear that enemy subsurface forces were creating some havoc! Thanks for the feedback. Cheers, Alan Caso

One of your fans reported this error message when loading the game into HUE v3.10

View attachment 35707

This is not a scenario problem. It is a bug caused when the game erroneously counts the number of weapons in the magazine. The magazine is not overloaded, but there's not much a designer or player can do about it. Just one of the 200+ bugs in HUE. :(

Look on the bright side. You got fans. :)

Well,I tried this scen in HNW and must say there´s been a lot of work here from the designer.
A complex situation to face, permanent attacks and detailed orders give this scen - in my humble opinion- a 5 star rating.
I could get designated ships to RefPts but my planes didn´t make a good job and also couldn´t save the bases.
Of course this deserves a second ( or third or fourth or..) chance

Thx a lot for this scen.

What is HNW? Is that ANW v3.9.4 or HUE v3.10? ;)

Regardless, Alan puts a lot of love into his scenarios. I reported a minor oversight to him and he insisted on fixing it and revising his scenario immediately. That level of anal attention to both his database and his scenarios is why he doesn't have to beg folks to play them. :)

But, what is "anal attention" ??? May be I am missing something:nuts:

Being anal retentive means to be almost obsessive over details. In this case, it's a good thing because it means his scenarios and database work out of the box. You don't have to worry about flying your plane to the target only to find out that it is impossible to drop the ordnance. This is always a major concern with databases like HUD or ANW and probably the main reason why no one uses them.

The 5th NEW Indochine Campaign scenario of the year!
05 The Mauritius Command

The island of Mauritius has been graciously "lent" by the French to British forces as a fall-back position from the Indochine assault on the UK bases up north in the Seychelles. An all-out retreat is now underway as Allied forces make their way south for the island of Mauritius.

It is here, in concert with US forces re-trenched in the Comoros Islands, that Allied Forces will hold their ground and start a war of attrition in the Indian Ocean - to take back what they once possessed, and to bring the war home to the Indian Indochines. This is the hill to defend, or die on.

Updated Caso dB
There is a new update of the Caso dB which reflects changes in the way mine warfare is conducted. The loadouts and weapons have been accelerated for better game play. You will find the update in the Players DB Harpoon Library; and along with it all the Indochine scenarios to date will have been re-synched with the new database. In addition, this notice announces the latest Indochine Campaign scenario which, as fortune would have it, has everything to do with……. you have it - mine warfare! Enjoy!

The 6th NEW Indochine Campaign scenario of the year!
06 The Canal

Attempts are made to mine the western approaches to the Panama Canal by scores of submarines on lend/lease from the Indochine Alliance to their Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Cuban and Venezuelan allies.

The speed and completeness of this endeavor is astonishing, as it is performed practically overnight right under the noses of the Allies, in the backyard of Pan America.

The Chilean Navy goes on alert and coordinates with the US and Canadian Navies to reopen this vital waterway.

Thanks for showing an interest, Capitan Piluso.
One of the factors I was counting on in some of the scenarios I am creating for the Indochine Campaign is mine warfare. It is, in varying degrees, an important part of some of the strategic and tactical Indochine war plans. The first time the Indochine Campaign player encounters mine warfare is in "The Canal." After building the scenario I began my test play and immediately ran into many problems. I consulted Herman Hum, who gave me the rundown on the ANW profile of mine warfare weaponry in the game and a bit of history of how it was structured. All the mine clearance weapons ran at 1nm, which is a good game paradigm to reflect real world conditions (a tedious affair). As to game play though, its deadly slow and painfully boring. So, that needed to be changed. I changed them all to 10nm. Also, the loadout time was very long. So, I hastened the loadout time for the weapons as well. There were some glitches with helo loadouts and the actual weapons assigned to the loadouts. Those were changed so that when a helo landed to reload it actually reloaded with a matched weapon and was able to conduct a new mission. The last thing that was a glitch was the depth at which mines would be placed and at what depth the weapons could go to disarm them. The mines would sit at the bottom at what ever depth they were placed, and that could not be changed. The lowest a mine clearance weapon could go would be 50m, so if the mine sat in 75m of water, you were out of luck. The compromise I settled for was that I changed the depth that the mine clearance weapons would dive to - 500m, (not a realistic depth but necessary to help scenario design and game play), and then settled for the fact that whenever I included mines in my scenarios, I would be limited to placing mines in water that was that depth or less.
That's basically the changes that were made to accomodate smoother game play with mine sweeping operations in Caso dB Scenarios.
Thanks for the question.
Best, Alan Caso

End of 1st Battleset – “Opening Salvos”

This scenario, “Cutter Cutout”, is the seventh and last scenario of the first battleset – “Opening Salvos”. The next battleset of the Indochine Campaign is “The Abyss of War”. Hopefully it will come out sometime early next year with a series of 4 scenarios. I hope you check in and play.

Thanks, Alan Caso

*******************************************************************************************

The 7th NEW Indochine Campaign scenario of the year!
06 Cutter Cutout

Attu, the Aleutians:

On May 29, 1943, the last of the Japanese forces suddenly attacked near Massacre Bay on the Aleutian island of Attu, in one of the largest banzai charges of the Pacific campaign. The charge, led by Colonel Yamasaki, penetrated U.S. lines far enough to encounter shocked rear-echelon units of the American force. After furious, brutal, close-quarter, and often hand-to-hand combat, the Japanese force was killed almost to the last man: only 28 prisoners were taken, none of them officers. U.S. burial teams counted 2,351 japanese dead, but it was presumed that hundreds more had been buried by naval, air, and artillery bombardments over the course of the battle.

After the war, the United States government decided to construct a LORAN station on the southern tip of Attu, at Theodore Point. This installation was manned by the United States Coast Guard. In 1954, the station was moved to Casco Cove, near the former Navy Base at Massacre Bay. In 1960, it was moved to Massacre Bay.
(Source: provided by Wikipedia)

Forty seven years later, the island of Attu once again finds itself the object of a foreign interloper. U.S. Coast Guard forces must gather all personnel and civilians and organize a desperate and hurried withdrawal before enemy forces can take possession of the island and imprison its inhabitants.

Hey Fellow Harpooners,

A 2nd Battleset for the Indochine Campaign is about to be released, called "The Abyss of War."

*****************************************************************************

02.0 The Abyss of War

This is the second battleset, consisting of four scenarios that occur during Mar-Apr of 2007.

As the war heats up, the Indochine Regime solidifies its gains and consolidates relations with its allies. The Regime begins preparations for the next phase of expansion. The Allied nations continue to reel from losses while trying to stop the Indochine onslaught, but their troubles seem to only deepen.

*****************************************************************************

The first of the four scenarios will be coming out shortly, and the following three will be released as soon as testing is completed.

Thanks and enjoy.

I tried the new scenario last night. The weapons fire, the ships move, and the missiles hit their targets. There's not much more (or less) anyone can expect or demand.

Yea, it's kinda straight forward rompum stompum - not my most creative but lots of fun with a simple and purposeful goal. A necessary step to supply and arm Australia as my fictitious war heats up. I'm going to get these four scenarios out there and just do some simple playing for a while. Thought I'd start playing some ouf your latest scenarios. They look really good!

Just a note for anyone following my scenarios. This previous announcement I made for "Cutter Cutout" had a slight typo. It is the seventh and last scenario of my first Battleset -Opening Salvos even though the title is called "06 - Cutter Cutout." Sorry for the typo - it should be "07 - Cutter Cutout." Thanks, Alan Caso

My statement should in no way be mis-construed or mis-interpreted as criticism of the scenario. In fact, it is a positive acknowledgement that the scenario and database is fully functional. There's been a lot of noise from some that cannot achieve this basic operational level. The darn thing works, plain and simple. The high number of downloads for the CasoDB is the community's response and recognizes the delivery of a reliable database and scenarios.
