From WORLD TV Memorial Day weekend celebration: NATO Commissioner Lord Carrington, at a birthday celebration for Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, encounters the former US Airborne regimental commander who threatened to execute him at Nijmegen in '44 (Carrington was then an armor commander, and had no orders to advance quickly to relieve their own troops at Arnhem, after the US paras had lost 50% fatalities clearing the bridge). Old regimental commander is talking to General Petreaus when Carrington approaches, and Petreaus makes to introduce them. "Oh, we've met!", says the the American.
