I have read the rules for a boobytraps and am still a little confused.

In scenario 4 Commisars house, the Russians are at level A for traps so every time that the german must make a TC (task check)? if he rolls 11 0r 12 he suffers casualty reduction on a random unit in that hex. the most common cause of this will be a Pinned task check on the combat results table and if a unit would be immune to having to make that test they must make it anyway just to see if they roll an 11 or a 12 ?

are their other TC that could cause this? would the attempt to recover a support weapon or other types of rolls interact in this in any way.

thanks in advance for any help

Only TC do have an effect.
Retrieving a SW asks a dr, not a TC...
But otherwise, all sorts of TC can trigger boobytraps.
I do find the rule a little "special", comapring with the SL system, where one could set up Booby traps that went off when one entered a building or woods...
Of course, the ASL rule has the good effect of putting more fog of war and taking some control out of the hands of the player...

Just to add to the list: SMC overrun, Kindling attemps, Set DC and immobilization TC. I thought that the manhandling one should count (you, know for pushing guns) but I guess it not.

PTC are the usual cause of booby traps as they are the most common TC.

Deploying is a TC and may trigger boobytraps.

I'm NRBH so I'm not 100% sure about entrenching and clearance. I think they are TCs.

drklrd, you should check the index for the definition of TC. That will list all the activities that are TC's

NRBH, but isn't Booby trap level A effect just on a 12?

A = 12
B = 11
C= 11 and 12

Entrenching and clearance are not TCs.
Otherwise, failure would result in a Pin.

Actually it is reversed

A = 11 and 12
B = 11
C = 12

Also, don't forget that a DEFENDER with Booby Trap capability is entitled to a Casualty dr whenever the ATTACKER makes a Search dr.
