Im running the latest version of vasl but when loading a game it fails to update boards. I saw a post a while back not to put your board directory in the program files directory so I moved them to a user directory but no luck. Any ideas?
thx

Check that the place where your boards are updating to is the same place that you are looking for boards when starting a game. Easy to get a mismatch.

Automatic board syncing will place the updated board in the directory specified in File-Preferences-Board Directory from the VASL Menu.

When you are adding boards to a map from the board dropdown, at the top of the dropdown you will see a Directory listed there. Make sure it is the same one. If not choose Select and navigate to the correct directory.

Choose Show Error Log in the VASSAL (not VASL) Help menu and copy/paste the log so we can see the error involved.

Sorry for the delay, think this is what you mentioned? Still happening.

Hmm, correct file but not seeing any error information. You have the right versions of everything, too. I'm stumped at the moment.

No ideas either. In your OP you said "when loading a game . . . " Does this mean you have the same problem when (a) starting a new game and (b) when loading a saved game?

We just released bd84. Does it show up in your dropdown list when starting a new game? If so, click it and see if it will download.

Tried to open a new game using bd 84. It appeared in the dropdown but when I hit finish I got this msg - "VASSAL could not find the file 'C:\Users\vasl\boards\bd84'." If I hit ok to proceed get a pop up internal VAASL error.

Reload VASSL? Thanks for any thoughts

Try running VASL as Administrator. If you get the same error, then a re-install might be in order. If you don't, look at the Permissions on the folder to make sure you have rights to write to the board directory. I see you are also running extensions. I would empty your extensions folder and then re-start VASL. Try to update a board then. If it works, you know one of your extensions is causing the problem. You can try adding your extensions back in one at a time and restarting/refreshing a board until you find the one that is causing the issue. I would start with the 4los V1.0 mod as it seems like it is an LOS MOD that could be screwing with your boards. -- jim

EDIT to add: You should review your extensions against this list. The los extension you have is only tested against v5 VASL and you are using 6.5.

c:\users\vasl\boards\bd84 is a suspicious path unless your username is actually vasl

It was the permissions on the board folder. I changed it to open it up and now it works! Thanks all for your help!
