The VCs of this scenario refer to "the 36 R6-GG6 road (path)"

However, PTO is in effect with no reference to roads existing (SSR 1).

I believe this means the road does not exist for play purposes, but is a reference point for VCs. Is this correct? Thanks.

PTO changes roads to "paths". For most purposes, a path in open ground has no meaning. I would take this VC to say the "road" is used to mark the boundary for the VC - but it is still considered a path for movement purposes. (The road doesn't exist - it's treated as a path. But the hexes the road is printed on are used to determine a boundary for the VC.)

Sam: I'm pretty sure that's only woods-roads.

Admittedly, it's a bit academic, but the road vanishes in VASL, which is why I asked for clarification. We're certainly reading the meaning of the VCs the same way.

Sam is correct. It is basically there for VC purposes.

Thanks, Rick (& Sam). That's what I thought. The vanishing of the road in VASL PTO just made me want to double-check.

And I apologize for splitting a fine hair pointlessly, Sam. :)

BUZZ!! wrong!

G.1 "... No roads exist (all woods-roads are Paths, with no Open Ground in the woods-road portion of those hexes) ..."

And then you said: "And I apologize for splitting a fine hair pointlessly, Sam."

Never a problem. We both play ASL.

I mean, I expect it!! :smoke:

Well, since it's never a problem...;)...what exactly was "BUZZ!! wrong!"? What I meant was only woods-roads become paths. The others cease to exist. I still think that's correct.

Just to make it crystal clear where the path is located, I used the draggable trail overlay where the road used to be. Looking forward to our match.

Likewise, Chuck. ;)

I was going to do something similar (since I'm setting up)... Was thinking perimeter marker, but trail sounds much more aesthetically pleasing.
