Gentlemen,

With numerous questions regarding this upcoming product, decided to put out some info.

Not sure when this will go up for preorder, but hopefully it will be sometime in 2009. PTing is 99% complete and we are well into the editing and layout process. the problem is that the contents are so extrensive, it is going to take a while to ensure we get it all right.
Additionally, with the large number of components this product is sure to retail at over $100.

General components are a special map, geoboard, magazine, player aid, over 40 scenarios, numerous countersheets. Counters include all kinds of stuff from all kinds of nationalities that are not currently in the system, as well as Japanese Paratroops, aircraft, etc. Several scenarios use these. Definitely want to wait to let all of the specific information out.

For those that have commented they dont like to play the USMC and caves. IIRC maybe 10% of the scenarios are USMC, and there are no cave complexes. A handful of scenarios have some caves but they compliment other fortifications. I can assure that there a wide variety of nationalities, terrain, etc, that add a lot of diversity to the scenarios in this.

We will keep you posted as we get closer.

Thanks,
chas

Because the total printing and subsequent retail cost would be significantly higher in three pieces rather than one.

I should add that this is what I have called 'the OtO of the PTO'. I more excited about getting this project out than I have been in one for a while because I think it is my best work to date, but that will be for you guys to decide when it comes out.

Hi-

Its too bad CoB is out of print just b/c a few people will have to miss out on this great pack. Perhaps you guys could include the counter mix for the Japanese to play the scenarios.

Lets see....:).... No Japanese means "don't buy?" Aye, that would be the wrong ASL attitude..... must buy when product is hot? If I didn't have the Japanese, I think I would borrow some counters and make my own till I get the real thing........ No one in their right ASL mind would miss this baby!!:yummy:

Now there must be a limited pre-pre-subscription coming to fund the printing... hmm.... who is going to step up? One hand up...:)

Best regards,:salute:

Even if we were to print the necessary Japanese components to play all the included scenarios, there would still be no Chapter G rules available to those who don't own Bushido and Ho...

Right, Jay. Just scenarios, scenarios, and more scenarios. Oh, and a ton of all of the other stuff that go with scenarios, scenarios, and more scenarios. :D
Thanks for the info, Sam. Just thought I'd double-check after Chas mentioned it was the "OtO of the PTO."

It still sounds like a great product.

I don't copy stuff, normally... but if I want to play I will find someone who has the chapter G I can borrow..... would make make a working copy till the original is reprinted that I can buy... Should be some work around on this issue.... sure MMP could put the chapter in a pdf form or sell it.... whatever.... needs to be some temporary fix! Oh well...

Best regards,:salute:

Hi-

Agreed, if your gonna spend a hundred bucks, might as well include the components to play those scenarios, perhaps writing up Ch G in your own words if you have to. But, I'm sure if people ask, they can readily get pdf's of ch G or copies from their buddies.

Really excited about this product too. If Chas thinks its best work to date, and it is PTO, and it has lots of components, then I think I can safely say it is a *must buy*.

The more expensive something is in ASL usually means there is more goodies in there for us.

I just last week took delivery of BtB2 and BFP2 (2 copies of each). Even though I had (again 2 copies of) BtB (1 - HoB) I agreed with the decision to bundle the original and new BtB maps and scenarios in one package. Apart from being better value overall, I would have bought at least one set of the the reissued (BtB (1)) maps as they are in the ASLSK style.

My advice to anyone even slightly interested in the BFP 3 package is grab one (or two) as soon as they come out, even if you do not have the old CoB or GH. You can still use the new maps for DYI scenarios and MMP will definitely bring out the Japanese, Chinese and Marines by, at worst, mid to late next year.

Although I myself am less interested in the China/Burma and PTO than ETO I will be picking up at least one copy, especially as there are new toys promised (more detail PLEASE, PLEASE!).

I love your recent product but without CoB the price tag of BFP3 will be just to high for me to get. Especially if if comes out next year and CoB happens to come out then as well at $100. I just don't want to spend that much on one product.

I know its a lot of game but I have a lot of game. Maybe you could separate out the magazine and create a Journal type product that actually gets released on a regular basis. IMHO There is a huge void in the ASL world for an annual ASL reading material product. The Journal is just not consistent enough. Scenario packs are being pumped out like crazy recently from so many TPP's. Just my $0.02.

I believe Scott's posts have good intentions, but dont want to go down a certain road.

Not 100% sure but I think BFP 3 uses 100% of the Jap 1/2" and close to 90% of the 5/8" counters. We are not going to tread on MMP in that manner. And, this would only increase the cost even further. I understand it may be frustrating to those that do not and cannot own the PTO stuff, but that is also out of our control. We are not going to not do PTO because of it. Surely even with BV out of print people still producted Russian front actions. Hopefully our product will increase interest in PTO overall which could benefit everyone.
For those that may have to wait for CoB, BFP 3 does provide a good number of Axis Minor actions as well.

I don't believe his posts have good intentions.

Leaving that aside, I would like to request that BFP3 not be put up for pre-order until it is very nearly ready to be released. There was a lengthy delay with the last one, longer than I had anticipated. Thanks.
