WOOHOO, Racing Movies!

Of course I'd have to put one of my favorite movies of all time, Smokey and the Bandit as #1. After that it gets hard to rank in order. Lance, you pretty much covered them all. Personally, I miss those old late 70s and early 80s racing movies. Here are some of my favorites:

Smokey and the Bandit
Smokey and the Bandit II
Smokey and the Bandit 3 (they changed from Roman numerals for some reason)
Stroker Ace
Cannonball Run
Cannonball Run II
Speed
Days of Thunder (despite Tom Cruise)

I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting, I think I'll go check my other videos.

It was alright, but I wouldn't put it on this list. And I just realized something. There are two movies called Speed I like. The Speed everyone probably knows, with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, and then a car-chase movie from 1989. And I also loved the car chase scene from Bad Boys II! (Not to mention the first one).

Smokey and the Bandit!

The greatest car chase movie ever and actually one of the few accurate hollywood depictions of the South in the movies! I also believe its the only one on here to receive an Academy Award nomination! Great music, great story, great scenes, over all great! :thumb: "Eastbound and Down, Loaded Up and Truckin!"

I personally love "Gumball Rally" and "The Cannonball Run" because they are both based on the same actual race........Real cars on real roads coast to coast..........only in America.

I believe it was film editing. Though it did have the best song! :thumb:

"Chariots of Fire" DID win for best picture, "Seabiscuit" and I think "Around the World in 80 Days" were nominated for best picture.

Oh. I didn't see Chariots of Fire on your list. Let me respecify- its the only CAR movie to be nomianted. Around the World in 80 days, is that the Disney movie from the 60s or 70s? I remember seeing an older version of it and for some reason I think Disney made it.

Thanks to Chrisvalla for reminding me of "Airborne" in the high school movie poll, it also applies here. Downhill racing (through traffic) on inline skates.

Which just reminded me of another movie, "Hotdog....the Movie" about skiing. Great skiing sequences, an awsome soundtrack (Mitch Ryder's definitive version of the great Prince song "When You Were Mine"), plus Shannon Tweed.

"Alright Rudi, Chinese Downhill for the trophy"

"You are right, Chinese Downhill"

"What the f*ckle is Chinese Downhill?"...............
