This morning we had a situation which in retrospect raised a question. A Beserk Rumanian 227 half squad was Adjacent to three. Enemy stacks. He chose to charge a 447 in the same building instead of two Stuart tanks and three 527s between them. Instead of firing the tripled point blank fire against the Berserker could we have fired the two of the three 527s against the charging unit first instead of the 447. Or because the Berserker entered the hex does become mandatory for the 447 unit to shoot first. I asked because the unit was Adjacent to another enemy unit forward outside of LOS of the three 527s. Typically units can fire at each moving enemy unit in any sequence per MF expended. However:

A8.312 TPBF: An armed, unbroken Infantry DEFENDER not in Melee must after all Residual-FP/minefield/OBA attacks then immediately attack any Infantry/Cavalry MMC unit that enters its Location during the MPh whether it uses Defensive First Fire, Subsequent First Fire, or FPF [EXC: A SMC with a MG/IFE already marked with a First Fire counter may not use Subsequent First Fire or FPF because it cannot use Sustained Fire; 9.3].
So units in the the hex being entered must, under most circumstances, fire at the Berzerkers before other units can.

Oddly, this must happen before other units take any Snap Shots at the same target while entering the hex. But I guess that's all in the "design for effect." When the Zerkies start screaming and running, the charged-at enemy reacts by firing. Much of the damage done - if any - is inflicted before the Zerkies ever reach the hexside.

There is a Q&A regarding that:

A8.312 Does "immediately" mean before DEFENDER in another Location fires at that ATTACKER? Before any attack vs. any ATTACKER in another Location in the Impulse? A. Yes. Yes. [An93b; An96; Mw]
