And just where did you come up with this little fact? There sure are a lot of "no bodys" going to all those games up north. In fact, it’s virtually impossible to get season tickets to any of the NFL teams and almost as hard to get them for the major colleges, regardless of where they are located. That part of your argument is baseless and without a shred of proof to back it up.

The college bowl games and the Super Bowl should be played on neutral turf. The idea that we let one team in the Super Bowl play at home is, well, just bizarre.

Right now virtually all the bowl games are played in the south, so you obviously don't have any problem rationalizing it because it heavily favors the teams you support. You can spin it however you want, Tater, it still amounts to you angling to get an edge for your teams. Ever try to get in to a major bowl game or the Super Bowl? Good luck. The vast majority of the tickets end up in the hands of corporate suits and people in powerful positions. Half of them don't even know how to spell the word football. But we can't have them being subjected to a little December/January whether, now can we? My gosh, they might catch a chill or--heaven forbid!--see a gray cloud in the sky or a snowflake on the field. The infamy!

No, we'll keep playing the bowl games in nice little air conditioned stadiums with neatly trimmed grass and pleasant smelling flowers growing beside the endzone. We need to keep those corporate suits happy. And besides, we wouldn't want those SEC players to lose their home field advantage.
Without getting into the middle of you guys tit for Tatar back and forth. I think the Big 10 champ (short of going to the BCS championship game) has the bigger gripe. Going to the Rose Bowl to play a PAC-10 champ year over year.

Yeah, that is true for THE HOME TOWN TEAM playing at HOME!!! Duh!

But a bowl in Detroit won't always be played by OSU and Michigan!!! It might be played by say Middle TN St. vs Cent Mich...oh, wait...they did play that game in Detroit. Reckon that stadium was "sold out"? Or, let's say it was a 9-3 Miami(FL) vs a 9-3 UCLA...with no national significance at all...does that sell out in Detroit with a January date?

NOT!

Apples and oranges. All bowls but the BCS title game have no title significance at all. They are meaningless. The Superbowl is part of a play-off system. BTW, the BCS title game was at a neutral site.

And besides, we wouldn't want those SEC players to lose their home field advantage.
So, what was the home field advantage for FL in Arizona?

BTW, I dare say there would be little complaining if OSU had won instead of getting their butts kicked. :surprise:

Really? I believe the Ice Bowl was a sell out. Fans will go no matter where the game is held...
Yeah, for the home town team...sure. But for say a Army (7-5) vs Georgia Tech (6-6) match-up. Naaaa...

"BTW, part of the problem (assuming one thinks it is a problem) is that bowls in those locations will ultimately fail because of one simple reason...NO BODY (fans) wants to go to a game in those locations in freaking JANUARY!!!"

So what you are saying is that SEC fans wouldn't go to Chicago in January to see their team play? What are they, a bunch of fair weather fans in the SEC!

They are too busy re-fighting the war between the states to worry about football!

No, what I am saying is that no body is going to start a bowl in Chicago because it would SUCK for a bowl game location in January.

You're right. Green Bay or Cleveland would be a lot better.

Fair weather is for baseball and cricket fans. Football should be played in snow, mud, and freezing rain.

Yeah, sure...which is why 1 of two northern bowl games is in a dome. And thats why they build dome stadiums because fans just love sitting in snow, rain and sub-zero temps. And thats why 24 out of 26 bowls are in the sunny south/southwest. :smoke:

IOW...The money disagrees with you.

But hey, for all the mud, snow and freezing rain that Michigan/OSU play in all year......they still got their butts kicked when it counted.

A fan would. :)
It's not like stadiums hold a million people. The money comes from TV so even if the stadium was empty they's make big bucks.
Are you saying no one would watch a game played in snow, rain or freezing temperatures?

Wrong. The domes are there because the corporate suits can't be inconvenienced to sit out in football weather. The domes are there because those northern teams without domes are shut out of the Super Bowl bidding by default.

Your argument is nothing by a smokescreen since all those northern games are sold out. You don't want to sit out in the cold and you don't want to see your southern teams play in harsh weather.

Plus most bowl games don't sell out now.
I would love to see a BSC game held at Ralph Wilson Stadium or Lombardi Field!

Oh yeah, excellent point...these mostly northern companies spend millions each year just so southern teams will have it easy.

Well, I guess it is a trade-off. The northern teams get the advantage of being overrated each year so they can sneak into a bowl game while the southern teams get the advantage of playing in a comfortable climate as they prove how overrated the northern teams are. :p

BTW, I checked the bowl results...out of 26 bowls there were 15 southern vs non-southern bowl matches. The southern teams were 10-5. So that proves it...northern teams are overrated and southern teams play well down south. I guess we have all been vindicated. :D

And on and on...yet, if OSU/ND had won...not a peep about "harsh" weather. BTW, there were at least 5 "southern vs non-southern" bowl match-ups where the weather didn't seem to be an issue.

Bottom line, this "harsh weather" stuff is just...   ...

Till next year when we will hear Don Maddox say..."where's the mud?!?!"

PS - All in :clown: guys.
