Completed the Battle of the Barricades CG this past weekend. The CG ended after the September 26th night turn with a US player victory. The game was extremely fun to play. The map Is very unique for a city map mostly wood buildings and the dense urban terrain makes for interesting situations. The map also uses small hexes so LOS are longer than they appear. Several other items are it appears that you receive fewer infantry, leaders and support weapons than most CG. I personally liked this feature as it greatly reduced kill stacks. Kill stacks played A very minor role in our game.

For a quick review of our CG. The KPA initially setup so that several MMG could be on hill 103 in addition 80 oba was purchased this was done in a attempt to prevent The US player from moving thru the open and seizing this dominate terrain. In addition one company in addition to the given depleted company was set up by the red entry zone this was done in the hope of inflicting multiple losses on the red entry area for the US. The other forces were setup to delay the US player around the normal school using roadblocks and the walls to delay the advance.

The US player entered on The black area with one company advancing down the main road then splitting to attack The normal school using DC to breach the walls the combination of this and and the other black entry company advancing thru the graveyard flanked the initial KPA setup and forced them back. The yellow entry area company layed smoke down and aided byKPA player breaking his MMG’s and not being able to get any fire missions down was able to seize hill 103 and most of hill 97. In the red entry area the KPA and US fought in the dense urban terrain with KPA having to break off their attempt and pull back after losing most of company and only inflicting minor losses on the US player.

Game went 8 turns with Two roadblocks captured and 16 CVP inflicted on US.

The next CG scenario saw the KPA purchase 2nd line infantry and while I dont know all of the US purchase they did by planes with early entry and extended. This day was mainly fought a delaying action thru the dense urban terrain. The US planes were not very effective in sighting targets in this terrain. This also went 8 turns with the KPA losing mostly the Green squads. The US player had advanced close to the train station and the main center road run thru the DUT.

it resulted in us player capturing two more roadblocks for a total of four, capturing 10 CVP the KPA inflicted 16 more CVP for a total of 34.

For the night turn KPA went max infantry purchase and US player also went max infantry. The KPA did not purchase the T34 RG as there appeared to be no way to exit the off board and the 10 CPP are expensive.

The night action was small and conducted on the left side or yellow entry area. KPA used it to launch minor attacks But no major fighting.

The next was a major attack day by US. they had 3 oba modules on red and black AOR along with a bombardment. The KPA purchased the 1st line company and flack Ally. The US player was very aggressive and was able to link up the red and black areas and advance and capture the area around the traffic circle and push towards the exit area. In the yellow area US player pushed and took the train station and victory hexes around the station. The US player bought the sustained attack option however game ended on turn 7. This was very costly day KPA suffered heavy losses.

US player has now captured 8 road blocks and had captured 30 CVP in addition they had secured 3 of the required victory hexes and were in place to capture two more. However KPA had now inflicted 84 CVp on US player.

The next CG date saw the US being much more cautious but still making progress against the very weakened KPA player especially in the right defense sector. This CG date saw the first use of flack alley. By the end of this CG date the US player had captured most of the right KPA sector and had captured 7 out of 11 victory hexes in addition there captured total stood at 40. The KPA inflicted Additional CVP bringing the total to 94.

For the night turn the KPA purchased 1 company and the plan was to engage in as much CC as possible to force the CVP cap. This was not successful as the US either broke the KPA before CC or won the CC. At the end of turn 6 KPA player conceded as most of there force was eliminated or broke and they had only managed to inflict 4 CVP. In addition there Was no way to prevent to US player from exiting required forces of of either yellow or black.

All and all this was tremendous fun to play. Have not enjoyed a CG this much is quite awhile.
