Hi,

After B13.421, "Any vehicle that enters a woods hex via a road must take a Bog Check when exiting the hex via a non-road hexside as it enters the woods portion of the hex."
B13.41 says. "Any vehicle may enter a woods hex without using Road or VBM by expending all of its movement capability .... Vehicles may also use this method to move off a road into the woods portion of their woods-road hex."
B13.42 says. "A fully-tracked vehicle may also enter a woods hex (by other than Bypass, Trail Break, or Road) by expending half of its MP allotment in that hex, but it must check for Bog (D8.21) with a +3 DRM."

1) May a fully-tracked vehicle in a woods-road (but not yet in the woods portion of the hex) spend half its MP to move into it, applying the +3 Bog DRM (B13.42 trumping B13.41)?

2) How does one manage a fully-tracked vehicle in a woods-road (but not yet in the woods portion of the hex) which wants to move into an adjacent woods hex?

Ex. The Stug in H11 (not in the woods portion of its woods-road hex) wants to enter G12.

2.1) Does it first spend MP to enter the woods portion of its hex, then spend MP to enter the adjacent woods hex?
2.1.1) Would it have to roll two separate Bog DR?

or 2.2) does it just spend the MP cost (i.e. all or half) to enter the adjacent woods?
2.2.1) would it then only roll one Bog DR?

Thanks in advance for the answers

Does this Perry Sez help?

B13.421 Contrary to B13.421, do you use a partial TB counter to indicate that a non-fully-tracked vehicle is in the woods portion of a woods-road hex? A. No. If you need a memory aid, use a handy counter.
If no VCA is performed as part of the move, how many MPs are needed for a fully-tracked/non-fully-tracked vehicle in the woods portion of a woods-road hex to re-enter the road portion of that hex? Is a Bog Check necessary for the previous question? A. There is no MP/MF cost to regain the road in that Location. No.
How many total MPs does it cost a vehicle in the woods portion of a woods-road hex to enter the next woods-road hex? (I assume 1 MP to start, 0 MPs to enter the road portion of its woods-road hex, plus road movement cost to enter the next woods-road hex.) A. Nothing extra.
A non-fully-tracked vehicle is on the road in a woods-road hex. It wishes to enter an ADJACENT, connected woods (non-road) hex. Does this require 2 turns to do so (one turn to enter the woods in the woods-road hex, and another turn to enter the ADJACENT woods hex)? Assuming no VCA changes, how many Bog Checks are needed? A. Two turns. Two Bog Checks.

To sum up:
  • 1/2 MP to enter the woods portion of the woods-road hex (1st Bog Check)
  • 1/2 MP to enter the adjacent woods hex (2nd Bog check)
In both cases, the +3 DRM would apply. I think.

good points to bring up.
I'm wondering if you spend ALL MP, you could pass through both Woods portions? or only one? to forego the +3 BOG DRM

Bill posted the answer -- if you want to avoid the +3, it takes two turns of all MP.
