Hey All,

AT Gun in a non-illuminated hex fires at a tank in an illuminated hex and rolls a cdr of 6. Does he lose concealment? I think he does as the unit in the illumination can see gunflashes outside of the illumination but I am unsure. Thanks.

I don't think a Gunflash by itself causes a unit to lose concealment; E1.8 says "Gunflashes are not a form of Illumination" and a unit that fires "reveals its Location (but not necessarily itself)". The Chapter E divider says units firing lose concealment when an enemy unit has LOS only if it's in an Illuminated Location or the NVR of that enemy unit. Because the Gun firing is not within the NVR of the tank nor in an Illuminated Location, it doesn't lose concealment.

However, do any other enemy units have LOS to the Gun? They could cause concealment loss if the Gun were within their NVR.

There's old, official Q&A backing this up
"E1.8 A concealed unit that creates a Gunflash retains its "?" if it is beyond the NVR of all Good Order enemy ground units (and is not treated as being within NVR; E1.101). [p.E26 (1990); ASL Annual 96]"

I recommend J. R. VanMechelen's "Bring on the Night" article in Out of the Attic #1.

(Thanks for moving this @Robin Reeve.)

Thanks Scott. I have JRV's "Bring on the Night". I knew I wasn't seeing something obvious. You are correct. Thanks. Thanks for the move Robin? Where did I put it originally? I thought it was in the Rules folder.
