I am not sure whether my game disc is faulty. If someone has the Wagram Campaign game- please check the OTVAES- Scenario NO.4. In fact, all the Aspern-Essling, OTVAES ( Campaign ) scenarios seem to have a visibility problem on the second day of only 1 hex for the entire day. These scenarios are opposed crossings via Lobau Island. The Wagram 2 day battle scenarios are OK as well as the 90 turn 2 day main program scenario.
Anybody else notice this ??? - or is it a fault of my game disc. :crosseye: Thanks !

Weather lines are missing for May 22, 1809. I have never received a note on this before. Odd how it never came out. I am sure that someone must have gotten to the second day before. Maybe that was before the weather lines were made available for this game.

I had not intended to make any more corrections to the game and I am not sure when John can put out an update. For now here is what you can do:

1. Copy the .PDT file Bridge_French.pdt

2. In the weather lines near the end of the file copy the entire set. Then paste them in after the last line you copied. Change all of the dates for the pasted lines to be "1809 5 22"

3. Save your original PDT File and use the new one instead just in case you want to revert to the old file in case something doesn't work.

Here is what your weather lines will look like after you are done:

1 1809 5 21 4 0 100 1 100 100 100 0 0 Clear
1 1809 5 21 5 0 100 4 100 100 100 0 0 Dawn/Clear
1 1809 5 21 5 15 100 8 100 100 100 0 0 Dawn/Clear
1 1809 5 21 5 30 100 16 100 100 100 0 0 Dawn/Clear

I do NOT suggest copying the text from this thread and pasting it into your file. There may be odd characters that get added in. A simple Replace command in Wordpad works fine.

This should work fine in your game. If not well you were not going to be able to play out the game using the current PDT File anyway ...

I know that customers are not supposed to tinker with the PDT files but the thing here is is that unless you play HTH you never will have an issue with this with another player. I know you have been playing the entire 1809 campaign and your AARs are nice to check on every so often.

If you want to just suspend your game for a year or so ... well the PDT file may come out by then. I know that John is swamped and probably cannot address this for at least a year.

Good news: Rich Hamilton informs me that an "a" update can be put up for Wagram if needed. What I will do is make are careful search of the PDT files for errors and then send them off to John Tiller.

Please do not pester when the update will go out. I am not sure myself!

Great news - as an aside, my computer crashed yesterday because of heat exhaustion and I am dealing with a lot of stuff in my life at the moment, so an Aar break is definitely on the cards.......I guess people are shy at reporting stuff, but it is unusual that something like that was not noticed ages ago.........people probably just pile straight into the Wagram 2 -day battle. :crosseye:

Use Wordpad. You can either change that type (.pdt) to automatically open with Wordpad like I do or just use the "Open With" and not change any of the file type specifics.

But the file should be out soon. I am having some guys look over the files and once they get back to me I will go ahead and forward them to Rich Hamilton and John Tiller.

Another option is to use Notepad which doesn't have any character formatting options. It is what I use when creating OOB files (as well as coding html by hand outside of Dreamweaver.).

The question should have been , where to find the files - i.e. you have to go into the program files folder and find the scenario and right click to open it up in any pad form. I have got a long list of coding where only one line resembles the example given by Sgt Rock. :hmmm:

Actually Notepad has a line number limit. Wordpad does not cause any formatting problems. Have used it for years. Better yet use Ultra Edit if you like or even Notepad++. The latter is a free product. You just set up the formatting options you want for either and fire away.

But I am going to send the files off to John Tiller/Rich Hamilton today. Not sure when the update will come out on the HPS site but maybe soon.

I note that Dawn above is at 5.00AM and that Dusk above commences at 7.00PM with night falling at 8.00PM.

Currently, I only have my Wagram game patched up to version 1.08. The weather line/s there are minimal with the Dawn set at 4.00AM and Dusk generally commencing at 8.00PM ( with night falling at 9.00PM ). Note - each of these points was tested ...

It therefore appears that at the 1.09 patch ( at least for the above scenario ) that Dawn was adjusted to 1 hour later and Dusk/Night were adjusted to 1 hour sooner.

Was this a deliberate adjustment/correction or has an error occured ? Perhaps the error is ( only ) in the above weather lines ?

NB : I also note that on the 1.08 version the Essling PDT has Dusk at 7.00PM wereas the Aspern PDT has it at 8.00PM. These two PDT's should surely have the same time for Dusk ?

I believe that this means you are still using a version earlier than 1.09. My Wagram game is at version 1.08 and it has only one weather line ( on the PDT file ) also. Line 4 of your PDT file should also end with 1 4 ( representing 1 hour of twilight and twilight visability of 4 hexs ). Generally the Weather line/s are at the end of the PDT ( just before 5 or so very short lines with numerals ). Games that have been updated re "ascending" Dawn and decending Dusk have multiple Weather lines ( approx. 10+ ) on the PDT and line 4 ends with 0 1.

Further to my previous ( unanswered ) post above.

Were all of the PDT Dawn and Dusk times adjusted or just those for the AE / Essling scenario's ?

It seems that Sgt Rock is not interested in responding here. Perhaps he does not "like" me ??

I am therefore assuming that the Dawn and Dusk time changes were indeed deliberate ( and therefore that they were incorrect before ); and also that these changes were applied to ALL of the games scenario's.
