After failing a MC badly yesterday I noticed that the counter for the American 7-4-7 in the SK and in VASL do not match. Specifically, the Class E is boxed in VASL but not on the SK counter nor on the back of the SK rulebook.

What is the box around the Class (don't think the SK uses the box)?
Is VASL wrong or is the SK wrong or are there both boxed and unboxed 7-4-7 counters out there (and VASL is missing the unboxed version)?

VASL must be wrong. The boxed E US squad is the 667.

Boxed and Circled

For MMC class distinctions, when a nationality has more than one unit
of a given class, they are differentiated with a box or circle around
the class symbol.

I infer that a boxed E ( [E] ) is superior to an unboxed E
and that a circled E ( (E) ) is inferior to an unboxed E

I think only the Russians have a boxed class 1 ( [1] ).

Obviously, as described in Ch.D, an [E] unit has a better helmet than a E unit, and a (E) unit has a poor quality, inferior helmet that makes them more vulnerable to snipers, commisars, and other battlefield hazards that take potshots right at your noggin.

AmiCounters

Brian is correct about the 6-6-7 being a boxE while the 7-4-7 is an E Class. I know that the VASL counters in the works have it done correctly.

I see in the VASL beta they've corrected the problem with the new counters.
